This is a rough raw mix of improvised drumming while you're listening to the urgent message from California Governor Newsom concerning LA & what had been transpiring there over several days. While listening, I began drumming to calm me down as I sensed the urgency and "red alert" in his voice and message.
It's very Lofi. Not mastered and actually I did not have access to Pro Tools nor good microphones so all has been done with an iPhone. We must all find ways to resist an authoritarian takeover of our democracy. ✨🗽⚖️🇱🇷 Me? I will always be found drumming. 🥁

Indie drummer Janelle Burdell, aka Udugirl, announced the first release of a collection of single doses of solo udu drum music, each designed for a variety of therapeutic uses to "allow the listener a chance to change the channel of their mind, really quickly." These first 3 improvisational songs comprise  Vol.1 of her “Let The Spirit Play” download series, now available on ITunes and  CD Baby. Soon to follow later in 2015 is "Udu U Luv", the full length CD featuring the Udu drum shaping hip hop grooves, melodies and bass lines into pop songs, which feature Burdell on drum set, udu and spoken word along accomplished collaborators such as ground-breaking female guitarist June Millington and the bass of Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon.)
