We’re hitting the ground running on this next one as Toolroom welcomes mysterious UK duo Wh0 & Brighton powerhouse Kideko for their main label release. Teaming up together on ‘Soul Searcher’, Wh0 & Kideko bring a fresh touch to the label with a sound that skirts the world of 2000’s Daft Punk French House vibe but with a more refined edge. 
 
Wh0 have released on Toolroom and the sub label Toolroom Trax previously, with the killer ‘Real Good’ & Dombresky collab ‘Take Me Away’, Kideko on the other hand makes his Toolroom debut. An established name in the scene already, Kideko has released cuts on Ministry of Sound, Stress Records, Realm and many more, collaborating with artists such as Friend Within, Armand Van Helden and Kudu Blue to name a few. 
 
Although we might not really know who Wh0 are, given the result of this record, it’s clear to see that the duo are a perfect match for a collab with Kideko. Together, they have dropped a full blown, feel-good House production. From the get-go, ‘Soul Searcher’ hooks you in with its incredible use of the 1976 classic D.C Larue ‘Cathedrals’ sample layered with tough drums and plenty of weight to keep those dance floors moving. 
There are some awesome brass hits that swirl around the filtered-out rising piano chords and a killer vocal ‘Don’t stop the music now it’s deep inside my soul’. Safe to say Kideko & Wh0 have absolutely smashed this!

If you think things couldn't get hotter, then you have no idea what's coming next on Toolroom. Label founder Mark Knight returns with his most anticipated release yet for 2022 and this time it's a truly special occasion as Mark enlists Dance Music royalty Armand Van Helden for their debut collaboration, 'The Music Began To Play'.

An artist who needs no introduction, Grammy nominated Armand Van Helden is one of dance music's most revered figures, with a career spanning 30 years and a vast discography which includes hits such as 90's classic 'You Don't Know Me' to his seminal hit 'My My My'. His productions and sound have certainly transcended the confines of Dance Music, influencing mainstream popular culture. With a list of collaborations spanning Dizzy Rascal to Steve Aoki, not forgetting one half of Duck Sauce with turntable wizard A-Trak, Armand Van Helden has a reputation as one of House Music's finest producers.

On a roll already this year, Mark Knight has firmly cemented both himself and Toolroom back into the club with a string of collaborations in 2022, from 'You Are A God' with James Hurr and Cari Golden to 'What I Need' with RETNA, Mark seeks to continue this trend with 'The Music Began To Play'. Kicking off with a hard-hitting, thumping House groove and electrified bass line that drives the record hard, pushing the mix to the absolute limit. Before dropping into the track's golden moment, sampling the 1979 classic Disco cut 'I Don't Need No Music' by T.J.M, a gem of a record and one that encapsulates both Mark and Armand's love for classic cuts. Together, 'The Music Began To Play' is an instant classic in the making, masterful work from two of House Music's finest showing us how it's done.

“krypt. vol2 is the second instalment of my ‘krypt’ EP series. It’s a mixtape-like EP, named after a ‘crypt’ (underground vault holding the remains of a person); in this case it’s my musical vault with several new + old tracks I’ve had in my unreleased catalogue. It touches various genres like the previous one, from garage stuff to a bit faster house, to slowed down nu-disco. I rarely get inspired by current music, most of the time I’m listening to records at least 15-20 years old but wondering how they would sound if they were made today.

The EP also features two songs (Never Enough, L.U.V.) with my own lead vocals, which a first for my releases thus far. I really enjoy making longer music projects which is why I’ve always gravitated towards LPs and albums, as a producer and a listener. It allows you to dive in a bit deeper in the mind of the creator and see where their emotions lie across a longer body of work. A single often doesn’t have enough power to allow you to see behind the curtain.”
