Mark Jenkyns and Christopher Sylvester have joined forces as 12 Stories to release the heavy duty ‘Night Obscure EP’ on Hot Creations. The EP features two original and unique no nonsense club weapons plus an equally solid remix from Bunte Bummler.

On the A-side, the acid induced ‘Showtime’ uses a sample from a ghetto fight to aptly fit the name of the track. After spending a lot of time in the studio and using numerous bits of Roland gear, the second track ‘Night Obscure’ finally came together when Mark’s neighbour spontaneously sang a French poem for the the vocals. No stranger in the Hot Creations camp Bunte Bummler uses the vocals to full effect over deep chugging percussions, while keeping hold of the sonic energy that flows through the EP.

This release is their first original output as 12 Stories and paves the way for much more to come including releases on VIVa and Leftroom. Originally from South Shields, Mark Jenkyns has enjoyed a series of well received releases on Hot Creations, Hot Waves, Crosstown Rebels and Dogmatik. Christopher Sylvester under his Inxec alias has released on a wealth of labels including Contexterior, Last Night on Earth, Leftroom, Get Physical, Culprit and Crosstown Rebels.

Mannheim natives Bunte Bummler aka Fabian Winkels and Manuel Vobis met 12 years ago in the graffiti scene, although several years would pass before they joined together to produce and DJ. Releases have appeared on the likes of Hot Trax, Recovery Tech, Deep Tech Records, Viva Music, Leone, Defected and Cecile.

Madrid native Dennis Cruz makes his Solid Grooves Records debut with three rumbling cuts including a remix from fellow countryman Wade.

Since his debut in 2010, Cruz has become a staple in Beatport’s charts, not to mention the sets of artists such as Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, Nicole Moudaber, Yousef and Roger Sanchez. Throughout this time the likely producer has dropped releases on Saved, Deeperfect, Stereo Productions and Kinetika, not to mention his very own imprint Lemon-Aid Music. He now arrives on PAWSA & Michael Bibi’s Solid Grooves Records, joining the likes of Wade, Kuo Climax and Rockwell & Landers for an exciting second year for the label.

Initiating with the sound of a roaring crowd, ‘See Line’ was produced with the dancefloor in mind using thudding kicks, arcane vocal samples and an energetic rhythm. ‘Heads or Cruz’ is a more low-slung number with a focus on a killer groove, whilst ‘Bienvenido’ engages in a medley of percussive elements geared for peaktime antics. Tying the package together, Wade remixes ‘See Line’ to give it his signature twist whilst ensuring the heady vocals reiterate throughout.

The Hot Creations main-players will all still be there for the ride however, with wAFF, Richy Ahmed and golden boy Patrick Topping making several appearances. Geordie superstar Topping has experienced heaps of success over the last few years and that's not showing any signs of slowing down either.

For his new EP, ‘Undercover', Items & Things co-founder Marc Houle jumps in his time machine and heads back in time. Destination Chicago, 1987, and a face to face with Master C&J exploring the mysterious power of plunging basslines and moody synths. On remix duties Berlin based Miro Pajic sneaks in charting a decidedly bleepier course while Bruno Pronsato delivers his signature 'romantic techno' sound.

There’s no way back and Marc launches the fist bars of ‘Undercover’ with just a bouncy kick and a vintage ‘house’ bassline. With reverb in full effect the drums and hi-hats find their own space and time. Then, if the synths that roll in aren’t mysterious enough for you, the pillow talk vocals will be. The end of each line, spoken with a certain sense of agitation, is covered by chords that ride, all night long. The revelation is for your imagination but you might not want to be ‘Under Covers’ with this guy.

Next up, Miro takes the dirty sheets and chucks them in the washing machine for a good old fashioned rinse and spin. This mix creeps along all bubbles, pops, tick tocks and rim shots. Snare rolls glide in and out of time only to snap back for a sub-bass drop or a little heavy breathing. What more can you ask for?

Bruno’s ‘Electric Blanket Dub’ warms things up quite nicely with its intricate, heady take on the original. Bringing a subtle balance to the three mixes with vaguely organic tones, natural rhythms and spontaneous drum fills, Mr. Pronsato comes through in full on a cold Berlin night. 
The final track, ‘Triple E’, is an underground goodie brandishing a relentless kick and enough swing to make Chancellor Merkel do the Jitterbug. Combine sharp snares, a muted bass warble and nonsensical vocal snips panning from side to side and you have the perfect late night jack track or pump priming party starter.

True to the ‘no rules’ vision laid out by Marc, Magda and Troy, this new edition of ‘Items & Things’ is weird and wonderful with more bounce to the ounce.

There’s no denying that a new wave of Israeli electronics is rushing into international DJ crates, with Tel-Aviv’s RED AXES riding its cusp. Producers Dori Sadovnik and Nirv Arzi have already turned heads with their unique style, and now it’s up to CORRESPONDANT’s to host the duo’s psychedelically flavored house antics. Having performed together for over 6 years, Dori and Nirv amassed a considerable amount of experience handling distinctive sound aesthetics that range from post punk to underground electronics. After releasing a string of mutant house jams for well-established label outfits like I’m A Cliché or Clouded Vision, their latest masterpiece CAMINHO DE DREYFUS packs quite some heat, with a weatherbeaten bassline supporting a hand-picked cast of kinky cowbells, raspy guitar hooks and ABRAO’s eccentric vocals.

Pachanga Boys’ REBOLLEDO is a certified master of sweaty minimalism, preferably dressing his sand- blasted beats in tight leather pants. His athletic remix of CAMINHO DE DREYFUS is no different, capping the original’s opulent voicework and then spreading a thick layer of digital grease over the freshly shaved legs. MARC HOULE’s approach to the vocals is similarly radical, allowing them to eratically glitch through the aether. In the meantime, a deceptively simple, but alarmingly effective bleep motive sneaks up on the listener, priming the track to shift into freaky madness at any given moment. Together with SPICY STICK, another shimmering afternoon banger from the blessed hands of RED AXES, this makes for a truly exciting package ready to hot-wire your attention span.
