This Sunday Zumbambiko and ciKuta are bringing fragments of the stories and experiences of Latin American cities, neighborhoods, and streets. These fragments, presented in the form of rap, are permeated by irreverent beats and misfit verses, showing the lights and shadows of a continent in constant revolution. This mix is a tribute to those words that are part of the history of the continent that saw us born and accompanies us in the joy and sorrow of migration.

In this episode, thanks to Benja, we explore the wide range of artists who’ve supported the Zapatista movement — from Mexican ska legends Panteón Rococó to the iconic Rage Against the Machine. The EZLN (Zapatistas) have stood up for decades against capitalism, colonialism (both foreign and domestic), racism, and all forms of oppression. This diversity of voices and musical genres reflects the heart of their philosophy: people from all over the world united in the fight for liberation and revolution.
The picture is about an indigenous man from the EZLN (Zapatista movement) toppling a statue of Spanish colonizer Diego de Mazariegos on the 500th year anniversary of the invasion of the “American” continent in Chiapas, Mexico (1992).
