My latest collaboration with Rory Hoy sees us chop up, reassemble and re-piece together over 100 Fatboy Slim tracks and remixes all into an 8 minute, multi-genre minimix!

This is definitely one for the Fatboy anoraks who’ll notice 100% Norman Cook samples here dating all the way back to his early 80s Housemartin days right up to his recent exploits with Eats Everything last year.

Following his chart topping EP ‘Big Blood’ on Impossible Records, Stratus brings us the ‘Big Blood Remixes’ with donations from emerging artists Architekt, Grid Division, Warez, Ahee and Rebel Rouser.
Opening the EP with a cinematic feel is the official VIP MIX by Stratus demonstrating his well rounded production styles and techniques creating a cool hybrid sound of mid tempo trap n bass. Not surprisingly, ‘Architekt’ slaughters his tear your face-off dubstep remix and never seems to disappoint us with his signature sound. Cutting deep into the bass scene, ‘Warez’ smashes out a crispy mid tempo trap n bass remix showcasing his own unique flavor. Always delivering the most unique remixes, ‘Ahee’ squares away some heavy 808 breakbeat vibes. ‘Grid Division’, our Unsung Heroes Remix Competition winner, adds a fantastic glitch hop, breakbeat take on the remix. While you are listening to the new album “No Tourists” with such cool tracks as “Timebomb Zone” and “Light Up the Sky”, we decided to cover one of our favourite classic tracks of the Prodigy – Mindfields from “The Fat of the Land”. Most often you can hear cover versions and remixes for tracks like “Breath”, “Voodoo People”, “Omen” and others, but we decided to refresh this powerful track and make it in the style of our band – Distortion Flames, sounds like a mix of industrial rock and breakbeat. How good or bad the result is, judge only you, but of course we hope that you will like it ;)

90s-inspired retro-futurism that blends breakbeat, electro and acid. Packed with complex drum workouts, cosmic synth sounds, hypnotic arps, acid sequences, electro basses and functional FX, this collection of loops and samples s is a great source of inspiration.

Abstract - Breakbeat Experiments

Turntablism: The art of manipulating the sounds on records to create new music.

In the early 90s Hip Hop DJs often found themselves taking a back seat while rappers had the spotlight, but behind the scenes they continued to push the boundaries. By the mid-90s scratching and beat juggling had been taken to a whole new level, enabling turntablist DJs to take centre stage - because what they were doing was completely mind blowing! The world DMC and ITF championships helped to give turntablism a global platform, so for any up and coming DJ learning to scratch, it was an inspirational time. During that period you could argue turntablism redefined the element of DJing as the corner stone of Hip Hop culture. Around 2002 digital DJ equipment like Traktor and Serato became very popular, and nowadays you rarely see turntablists rocking DJ battle sets on a pair of decks with real records. Thats not to say they can’t tear shit up, it’s just the equipment is different. In terms of the golden era of turntablism though, this mix represents where it’s at. Hope you enjoy. Peace.
