second various artists ep with few selections of personal favorite old (and new) artists discovered. really eclectic and fine sounding idm, electro and braindance from robyrt hecht & xy0815, tysk raider, omni causa, nachtzug, retape and j. wiltshire.

for the beginning of a few inner (east) german collabos we're proud to work with robyrt hecht & xy0815 from leipzig.. they deliver a common work as a result of a late summer session. it was the first transmission and it nailed our idea of electro with a brainy twist right away.
tysk raider is one favorite this year as well and his track is an outtake of the tracks he sent us, a split ep with his tunes on one and lithium flux on the other side, will appear march '18.
robbyrt hecht's brother norman is also a musician and with his friend stephan he forms nachtzug, they will appear on an album on mindcolormusic this year's summer, these are recorded sessions developed through love of music and routined jamming with friends for ages. they know what they do and still learn it again at each stage.
also first feature on micomu for retape and j.wiltshire. as fans of electro with nerdy idm / braindance touch you can't fault on these two, super hexagon from jacob is a constantly growing platform for his works as well as collabs with alma construct for example.
retape has been quiet for a few years you might think but if you follow him on sc you'd see he's as productive as always, creating pure and direct, super versatile jam trax that always fixate his idea of music to a different level.
this is an outtake of his last ep he self-released on bandcamp.

Recorded in Lisbon, Winter 2017. I present the first volume of Synthesizer Ditties inspired by a bygone age of witches and wizards, knights and dragons, enchanted swords, haunted graves, sacred forests and regal kingdoms. Recorded almost entirely on a Korg Monologue + spring reverb / LN76 (TR-08 on some ditties also). I've not made the other volumes yet, but when i do, maybe i'll put it out as some sort of expensive compendium or do a limited dubplate run or something else annoying like that? We took Fritz to Limerick Forest in Oxford Station, Ontario, Canada for an afternoon to enjoy some peace and quiet. Here's what he heard in the 15 minutes or so we left him by himself.

This is a true 3D binaural audio soundscape, created with the Neumann KU 100 dummy head microphone. Listen with headphones and turn the volume up just until the ambient sound seems natural (note, the gusts of wind did get fairly strong at times that day).

There was a noise which weaved between the tall trees, it was soft and gentle in the glow of the late afternoon sun. It was the sound of the breeze, a beautiful soft tone which cast a spell over the beautiful countryside. The leaves fluttered under the mild strain as the clouds passed by slowly overhead. This was the perfect summer's day, a true miracle in a world so lost. Walking amidst the tall reeds by the lake, he looked out upon what might have been in another life.

As you’d expect from Yao Bobby & Simon Grab, the recording of this live set feels refreshingly raw and unhinged, but in contrast to their latest record, the live set comes with the very effective added anchor of rhythm & bass from Dhangsha’s drum sampler – the trio work devastatingly well together in a live setting – we’ve seen it with our own eyes – and this tape cements that fact further.

Simon Grab’s overdriven bass tones & feedback sirens go in bare knuckle fight mode with the counter percussion & mashed up samplism of Dhangsha – a cool combo of explosive sound & rhythm, to which Togo’s very-own Yao Bobby responds with his expert, deadly variations of vocal & lyrical styles – Yao is in full charge of anything from ruff & ready fast-chat, to whispering, brooding vox….
If there’s a ‘calm’, it’s to signal the storm ahead.

Yao Bobby & Simon Grab & Dhangsha - Live At Radio RaBe Bern (LV06 cassette out now!)

QUARANTINE SONIC SQUAD est une communauté de musicien-nes de différents horizons formels et stylistiques, rassemblé-es sous cette seule et même bannière suite aux mesures de confinement radicales prises par l'État français en réponse à l'épidémie de COVID-19. 

L'idée derrière le projet "DAL DE VIVRE" est née de deux contextes spécifiques qui sont les conséquences directes de cette crise socio-sanitaire globale. Tout d'abord, cette situation nouvelle et extra-ordinaire de confinement (temporaire mais non moins nécessaire) qui nous a poussé toutes et tous en tant qu'artistes, interprètes, producteur-ices, instrumentistes, DJs et autre professionnel-les de la musique, à repenser notre activité professionnelle à l'aune d'un repli spatial forcé. Puis en un second temps, la situation plus qu'alarmante dont souffrent les plus démuni-es de nos soeurs et frères humain-es, mal-logé-es, sans-abris et autres occupants de logements insalubres, rendu-es de facto incapables de se confiner sereinement. Cette précarité, déjà visible bien avant l'apparition du virus, est exacerbée par la gestion ultra-libérale des territoires habitables. Effet collatéral d'une époque où la privatisation des biens publics par certaines puissances industrielles et économiques tend à être rendue légitime par les institutions qui devraient pourtant oeuvrer à  leur sauvegarde. Et dont les symptômes ressentis intimement, dans nos chairs, ne font que s'amplifier en ces temps d'urgence sanitaire.

Également conscient-es des engagements militants menés par le DAL (Droit Au Logement) afin de faire bouger les lignes sur ce sujet à une échelle plus globale, nous avons donc décidé de produire un objet musical qui viendrait soutenir leur lutte sur le plan financier (par contribution directe en achetant cet album - à prix libre) tout en constituant un relais à leurs différentes modes d'actions actuels revendications d’urgence : la réquisition des hôtels, meublés touristiques, logements et bureaux vacants pour loger les sans abris mais aussi très mal logés et victimes de violences conjugales et intra-familiales, le moratoire sur les loyers et les factures d’énergie, avec rétablissement et renforcement des APL, l’arrêt de toutes les expulsions...

Malgré ce contexte tout à fait nouveau qui tend à interpeller nos consciences, nous avons produit cet album animé-es par des énergies salvatrices. Tous les morceaux qui le composent sont les produits du confinement et du bouillonnement de ses auteur-ices. Il comprend aussi quelques collaborations inédites d'artistes qui n'auraient d'aventure pas été amenés à travailler ensemble dans une autre temporalité, mais qui se retrouvent ici main dans la main pour créer un contenu musical solidaire et militant. Sa narration a été pensée comme un écoulement, qui vient tout du long se faire remuer par des vagues soniques aux couleurs variées qui, nous l'espérons, rappelleront à nos auditeur-ices à quel point la scène électronique française est riche musicalement. Par delà les frontières du genre et des querelles esthétiques de chapelle. Bonne écoute et bonne lutte !
