The mid 80's. A small yet influential island in the Balearic's was hosting club nights where the DJ's were playing down tempo tracks across many genres and pulling off eclectic and legendary sets unique to the island. Many tracks were British, and American pop tracks given a new life by DJ's who were setting the benchmark for cool. Add hand picked Spanish folk music, remixed for the dance floor and the music took on an almost spiritual nature.
Each night as the sun set clubbers would flock to a small bar in San Antonio to catch the suns dying rays - a moment that would signify the start of the hedonistic night that was to follow. Legends like Alfredo and Jose Padilla would dig deep into the vaults of European popular music to find nuggets often overlooked by clubs in the UK and the rest of Europe.
That bar was and is to this day is Cafe Del Mar. A name synonymous with cool. A bar and night spot famed for chilled out bar grooves , with the odd curved ball thrown in for good measure. Sit back, chill out and enjoy x

Bellamy - True Grit - World's End Mix

Here's my take on a 1970's stone cold classic called "work to do" originally by the Isley brothers but covered by The Average White Band, The Main Ingredient and Vanessa Williams - so no pressure there then. Its my first real attempt at remaking a track played by musicians and bands so it represented some challenges with keyboards and drums because I wanted to keep the live feel - obviously I play neither instruments proficiently so creating the drum patterns and piano chords was fun and rewarding.

Kash Karma - Shadowing (Original Mix)

A cheeky nod to one of the all time great Trance tracks and arguably the best dance track to have come out of Italy. Produced by Roberto Milo (Robert Miles) this track was played end of night allegedly to calm down clubbers for their journey home and reduce the road traffic accident rate at the time - could just be an urban myth.

My remix is very true to the original but bringing out the floaty nature of the track and then getting all Balearic with full on Flamenco chord progressions on a 12 string acoustic guitar.

Roberto Milo - Los Ninos (Tony B Balearic Bootleg Mix)

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read my profile. I first got behind a pair of 1200’s at a house club in 1990 but cut my DJ teeth many years before running a sucessfull mobile outfit with two friends- that mobile roadshow was called Expansions Roadshow.
 
Playing soul, rare groove and disco from the 60's onwards we played to packed danbcefloors every weekend for six glorious years. Interesting to note that at that time I was following some soul DJ's called Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong and Trevor Fung - how things have moved on!!

Then one day in 1989 all that changed when I was introduced more fully to a new musical genre I was was only experimenting with on my "disco" dance floors. That music was house. I'd been playing the odd house track since 1986 - loving the pumped up 4 on the floor beat.

Impressed with the music that was coming out of Ibiza, Rimini and Amsterdam and being played at clubs in the UK like Passion, Shoom and Yikes - I decided it was time to give up the disco and dedicate my time to playing in clubs and running my own parties.
 
By hassling other DJ's and any promoter who's phone number I could get I was lucky in 1995 to be firmly routed as resident DJ to one of the UK's biggest club nights (and first super clubs) of that era in the massively popular Full Monty and soon after the legendary House of Windsor - both located at the 2000 capacity Mirage nightclub in Windsor. 
I then followed the Full Monty to their new home in Reading, long before Reading became a UK hotspot for clubbing with clubs like Mangoes where I now play guest spots.

I have always held the belief that I am here to entertain and not educate the dance floor and I possess a remarkable ability to set a dance floor on fire from my first track. I fully use the 30 years of musical knowledge I have gained, forging it into a two hour microcosm of dance music with a soulful yet tough edge. I definitely have my own sound.

Production came much later. I just didn't have the time to run a family and a 9 til 5 job and find time to get into a studio as well. 
That's all changed now with my two sons growing up and I'm experimenting with a number of different styles fusing together elements from my favourite artists, remixers and genres - sometimes all in the same track.

I'm still learning and have a long way to go but if I can produce music like I can play it then watch out world.
