« Founded almost four years ago, Le Motel’s Maloca Records has excelled in world-building as it tirelessly brings together some of the best and most innovative artists from different pockets of the club community around the world. This is showcased most notably through the compilation series which returns for its second volume on the 8th December as it combines both established and breakthrough artists.

Across 17 tracks, Maloca, Vol. 2 features both label family and exciting debuts with the likes of Farsight, Griffit Vigo, and DJ JM returning to the imprint. The rest of the compilation sees knockout contributions from the likes of Bambounou, Flore, Konduku, Tristan Arp, NVST, De Grandi, Neida, Cheb Runner, Malo2k, Leese, Ultima Esuna & Destrata, Mika Oki, M I M I and Space Drum Meditation. Whilst these artists may be from different cities across the pond, they all have something in common - they are leading the way for the next wave of club music. Whether that’s the riotous sounds of NVST, Griffit Vigo’s ever- evolving landscape of gqom, Tristan Arp’s signature insect-inspired soundscape, the emerging Brussels-based artists M I M I and Mika Oki or the trippy, introspective melodies of Konduku and Space Drum Meditation. Maloca, Vol. 2, captures a mind-melting moment in time.

The artwork is by Brussels-based painter Anastasia Bay who’s work presents a renewed vision of the human figure. Oscillating between abstraction and figuration, Anastasia Bay’s work is all about contrast and balance. The choice of a precise fragment of reality in her works dissolves any narration. »

CEE is a next generation artist collective bringing together musicians, designers, digital creators, researchers, theorists and thinkers to explore technology, art and nature as a framework for cultural transformation. CEE uses technology as a set of tools empowering creativity, critical thinking, research and independence for all its members. The aim is to create an environment that fosters collaboration in the real world and provides opportunities for shared exploration and learning enabling different groups of people and creators to drop work together effectively.

All releases, encompassing music, gadgets, events and audio essays, delve into the relationship between machines and nature—two elements that are part of an interconnected ecosystem symbolizing a bionical evolution in a world where technology reinterprets nature in an iterative effort to differentiate from it.

PRIMARY FOREST 01 is CEE's first music compilation, featuring seven original tracks from Ma Sha, Pépe, AFM, Dj Fucci, Delay Grounds, Toupaz and An Avrin, driving us on a frenetic journey through the densest and wildest forests, delivering avantgarde deconstructed club sounds via bass music and avant- techno, powered by hyper-accelerated BPMs that reverberate on a geological time scale.

PRIMARY FOREST 01

Ma Sha - Are They Back

Mossambi makes his return to All Centre to follow up the stunning debut Resurf EP from the beginning of 2023. On The AI Told Me To, he delivers 3 more experimental techno exertions backed by a heavy-duty club remix from Holloway.

Reptate opens proceedings with otherworldly vocals stuttering over Mossambi’s distinctively inventive sound design. The track enters an off-kilter, compelling groove composed of deep kicks, growling subs and snippets of microtonal melodies, building up and playing out like an extra-dimensional take on dubstep.

The title track keeps up the momentum with deep kicks and shuffling hats, allowing a lush choral pad to stutter and proliferate amongst the percussive intricacies. The chord is manipulated, filtered and triggered in unpredictable patterns as the track progresses, keeping the listener on their toes whilst Mossambi holds down a transfixing groove.

Mossambi’s final track, Miscellaneous Vegetable Platter, slows things down to a hypnotic 110 bpm pace. A disorienting blend of scrambled vocals, fried digital synths and dubbed-out bass and chord hits are kept in check by steady drums, whilst a frenzied snare roll pushes and pulls at the track’s intensity as the track progresses, crafting an engrossing low-tempo workout.

Holloway translates Mossambi’s glitched vocals and heady sound design onto a ferocious four-to-the-floor groove. A warbling bassline bubbles underneath driving percussion, whilst a syncopated hard house siren brings the energy levels to a fever pitch.

Musuama emerges from the aether onto NHS with 'Bailes Mudos'; being their first release and foray into the world of leftfield esoterica electronica. Hailing from Brazil with time spent in Mexico, Musuama’s exploration of synthetic sonics is fuelled by a healthy background in trained musical knowledge and an ever-present aura of genres like cumbia, reggaeton, guaguancó and festejo to name a few. The artist speaks further on this: ‘I was confronted by the constraints imposed by the timbral limitations of traditional instruments and recognized the transformative impact of technology on artistic expression. I believe that by embracing technological advancements across artistic fields, both the listener and the artist stand to gain by fostering an even deeper connection with creativity’.

The collection is transient in its collage of sound artefacts; a spaciousness encapsulates the artist's approach to their productions that is meshed with pulses of texture and an ephemeral fluctuation of echoes, delays and reverb; as if we are inserted into Musuama’s personal journey through cultures characterised by sound. Throughout, the release carries a sense of subtlety, hypnotised by a steady march that permeates through the homogenous story that is told via the EP.
