ULC’s guest preacher today was Bené Diction, aka John Brett, (he/hym/hys). John is an ELCA seminarian who began work with the SF Night Ministry in 2014. John has accompanied unhoused neighbors and the queer community in a variety of non-profit and ministry settings, including as Program Director for The Gubbio Project. In 2021, under the performance name Bené Diction, he began offering the Drag Street Eucharist in the Castro to celebrate Pride Month and claim public space for Queer faith. Additionally, since 2018, John has served as a chaplain at Burning Man through Camp ReligiousAF.
