The Queer Northern-Ireland born Cormac is back from another busy year as a label honcho and curator with the second Polari compilation No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 scheduled for release 31st of January 2024.

The compilation is filled with synth heavy swings, acid basslines, steamy vocals and lots of fun, making NTITB Vol. 2 the perfect entrance release into the new year.

Cormac says; No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 is a unique family with offerings from Polari hitmakers such as Jordan Nocturne, ROTCIV, & Louis de Tomaso as well as introducing new talent to the roster including DJ City, Nimmo, Shay Shaz, Hifi Sean, Joshua James + Xols.

I curate the compilation much as I do a DJ set, so there is a voyage of sorts in listening to the compilation as a whole. I encourage the listener to listen as you would an album, although they of course work solo as well.

A 10-track long journey forms a unique force of anthemic sounds, tapping into nostalgia but never pulling away from today's references. No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 serves as a dance-heavy pursuit aiming to not hold back.

The label profits from the new compilation are going to charity. Polari has previously raised money for All Out.

Doctors Without Borders is a politically neutral Non-Governmental Organisation whose main objective is to treat people in regions of the world where they are most needed. They are currently most active in Gaza and have a further 70 projects active in the world.

Slavik Dzyga (@slavik_dzyga aka Denys Chornomorets) is a Kyiv-based producer working in Indie Dance, Dark-Disco, and Italo genres. Denys has been producing music and performing live for the past four years, and his high skills are perfectly showcased on this debut EP.

Ubre Blanca (@ubreblanca) have been an inspiration to Slavik Dzyga for years and helped him to shape his production style into emotional Italo with catchy, tender melodies, yet maintaining a strong and dance floor-ready vibe.

@nathancohn is a London based producer and DJ who’s been crafting his art and exploring the various facets of house music for years. Over his decade-long career, he has had some hear-catching releases on renowned labels such as Kitsuné, Nervous, Ed Banger or Bordello A Parigi.

In “Focus On Your Breath”, he showcases the wide array of his influences, and the broadness of his musical soundscape, revealing us these three interpretations of a track built around a mantric vocal sample. With a first iteration sounding like the perfect modern italo disco cut, a chuggy and acid version taking us to some dreamy, meditative, and almost hypnotic fields, or a progg and tech infused tool crafted for the club, COHN pays his own homage to the diversity and richness of electronic music.

Lashes (Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht Remix) Peter Invasion and Gregor Habicht take the hypnotic, distortion-heavy 'Lashes' to chaotic new heights. Layered with arpeggiated sounds their remix adds a structured dynamism that contrasts yet complements the track's underlying turbulence. Energy (Mala Ika Remix) Taking inspiration from In Between's standout dancefloor gem 'Energy,' Paris-based Mala Ika channels Kraftwerk-like vibes with an elevated pitch and vocal stabs that infuse a lighter, almost disco feel. We’re happy to cordially invite you to the Regression Session, hosted by eternal Philadelphia scene flag bearers @zillasonacid ! And if you think this sounds awfully lot like a scam, you’re probably right: „Regression Session“ is just a front of their illegal black market operation, trading raw uncut gems on a large scale. Just listen to the opener and title track and you won’t exactly have a strong case for the Zillas selling out, but rough as it is, this thing is capable of destroying any dancefloor it touches. Looking at their recent releases it’s fair to say the Z’s are on quite a run, putting out music on labels like Permanent Vacation, Throne Of Blood, Multi Culti or Ivan Smagghe’s Disques de la Mort. Tunes like the sneaky rough slow burners „Underling“ or „Start Digging“ sound like they could be lifted from the latter’s infamous DJ sets, while the deceptively titled „Cha Cha Cha“ or closer „Casual Observer“ justify the „Acid“ in the artist name. „Shining Snakes Across The Lake“ is what some years might have been called a mid-tempo house roller and probably counts as downtempo these days. Speaking of tempos, the penultimate „Sweet Days Of Discipline“ starts of masquerading as reaaally downtempo, but ends up throwing 155bpm kick drums at you, so better watch out, all you k-hole ravers! Let’s not forget to talk about „bquiet“, which is what you’d call mid-tempo house these days (125bpm) and uses the eternally banging combination of a jacking beat, a polyrhythmic bass line, some lead-synth stabs and talking vocal slices. You can practically smell the sweat. So what’s left to say? What you see is what you get: They are Zillas, and they are on Acid. And they provide a collection of eight tunes that probably each don’t necessarily have a double-digit amount of tracks in their DAW projects, and that’s exactly what makes them so forceful.
