Alex Aguayo is Mahkina (SXDNS038), a moniker through which the Mexican rising star explores his 90s influences by delivering a sonority more devoted to Trance and early Rave combined with shards of Cosmic Disco. What a concoction, isn’t it? With previous appearances on vital labels such as Haunted Space, DistroKid, Maleante, and U’re Guay, he is now back on the Montevideo-based multi-genre imprint with a trippy and frenzied release: The EP consists of three highly mighty originals and three well-constructed remixes made with love by Gala, Manuel Sahagun, and Imanol, the label boss himself.

The track we chose to review/premiere is maybe the one that best expresses what Alex really intends to deliver under his new alias. “Autonomy” is above all hypnotic and feverish – exactly what is expected from the combination of his Trance & Rave influences. From his Cosmic Disco references, psychedelic and churning melodies supplied by the beautiful arpeggiated synth layers. The result: A peak-time cut devoted to putting big smiles on people’s faces!

“I first encountered Cormac about 15 years ago when I was a resident at an after-hours queer party called Yello and he was a regular guest. Many years later we bonded over high energy house and disco. I thought it was a nice touch to pay homage to those times, and there's another tip of the hat to Belfast party starters Ponyhawke who have carried the mantle for diverse and inclusive dancefloors in Belfast here in 2023.  The lead track is a collaboration with a Ukrainian artist, Ready in LED and it had Polari written all over it. Olya is a superstar and I’m very excited to be working with her.”

Ready in LED who has recently released on Polari herself, has made a stellar contribution to Jordan‘s forthcoming EP, she lends her extraordinary vocal prowess to the opening track, "Over & Over," infusing it with captivating strength. Far from Sweely's original minimal-acid-house signature, I have worked on some italo-trance-rave hybrid, and, as you may have noticed, subtlety has never been my forte.
I've been influenced a lot by the great Kendal (among others), but also early Trance from the 90's which has been my 'guilty pleasure' lately. See for yourself!

Très loin de l'aspect minimal acid house de l'original, j'ai opté pour un hybride italo-trance-rave (appelez cette chimère comme vous le voulez) et comme vous l'aurez remarqué, je ne fais pas dans la dentelle ou la subtilité. 
Quant à mes influences, on peut citer le génial @kendal3000 (entre autres) ou encore la trance des années 'nonante' qui est dernièrement mon guilty pleasure. Jugez par vous même.

Moustache Records welcomes Senor Chugger to the label family! His debut EP 'One More Tune & One More Pint' (yes come on let's have it!!) aims to encompass the euphoric feeling of being on a dance floor with nothing but your mates and some good music (and pints). Honestly I'd be happy if that's what's awaiting me in the afterlife. 'Press the Flesh' is the head of our proverbial euphoric snake, making no promises other than you'll have a bloody good time listening to it. 'Midnight Scooter Cruise' is about those last few moments before the lights come on; feeling genuinely happy to have been able to live in the present for more than a few seconds throughout the night and have a laugh - followed by thoughts such as 'Goodness me I'm going to feel horrific tomorrow'. Flipping over to the B side (or the snake's ass, if you will), we have 2 tracks competing for the loudest snare award. 'Head in the Clouds of Smoke' is a nod towards the great times had in the peak of the midday sun at festivals, where otherwise non-smokers inexplicably decide to chuff their way through a 20 pack. Last, but by no means least, 'Newton Abbot Reunion' is about going back home to see old friends - one of the more wholesome hangovers I'm sure you can relate to. Overall this EP wants you to keep on dancing - there will always be one more tune, and one more pint (unless you've had too many in which case don't do that). 'Very very good EP. Possibly the best I've heard this year.' - Count van Delicious 'Will you stop making your Italy disco or whatever it's called and take the dog for a walk please' - Senor Chugger's mum This is the unknown hit everybody is looking for played by Moustache Labelboss David Vunk at numberous parties, club and festivals!!!! This is the 2020 HIT EP Be fast gone is gone!
