When I finally arrived on Tuesday the 26th of April in Groningen to play at Paradigm's King's Day event in the Netherlands, I had started my travel the previous day in the desert of Coachella. Sometimes you have to endure a long trip in order to play an awesome party on the other side of the planet. Paradigm is run by a super friendly family-like crew with a lot of love and compassion and exactly those factors matter a whole lot when it comes to techno parties… or techno in general really. What an extraordinary vibe that was, that can be easily compared to a night at Berghain in Berlin or similar places where the music and the location are the main ingredients for a great time. Thanks to that awesome crowd that gave me so many new ideas to mix tracks together and try out some new things. Dank u well everyone who came out and I can't wait to be back! Even after this long weekend in Las Vegas/Coachella/LA and trip back to Europe, I didn't wanna stop playing.. so the set is a little longer than 3h… Today´s AMFM contains the third and last part of the set, hope you enjoy!

For this week’s DETECT we welcome @klaudiagawlas. 

By the age of nine the Polish musician had learnt both the keyboard and guitar, and by thirteen she had made her first production on her Commodore 64 - it was only a matter of time before she developed an interest in club music. After a step away to the US to focus on her studies in psychology, she returned to Europe and got her break on the dance floor in the late 2000s, with it all spiralling from then.

The 90’s rave scene embodied a sense of freedom, defiance, energy, and diversity. Konvic’s track, ‘Dove Days’ celebrated that with a hard techno edge and spoken vocals by DeepDownDirty label boss and founder Maya Stone.

Fast forward seven years from the release of ‘Dove Days’ (and as DeepDownDirty fast approaches its tenth year of existence) and Konvic has put together a full album’s worth of eclectic new music to complement the original track, bringing it bang up-to-date with hiphop-edged techno in ‘Escape Key’ featuring Melee; a drum and bass duo of tracks in ‘We Need Love' & ‘Aura’, which both feature TiaSun; and 'Gaia’, with its hard neuro-influenced riff.

Amongst the techno you can also find the bouncy ‘Moroccon Nights’, with its North African-influenced vibe; an acid techno collaboration with Alf E James, ‘Rhythm is in my Mind’; the pulsating groove of ‘Dance’, the third track to feature TiaSun; the vibrant chords of ‘Keep Walking By’; the underground feel of ‘Exit Light'; and the subversive ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, a collaboration with Coqui.

This is music that celebrates the liberating, hedonistic 90’s rave scene with a futuristic edge. Its euphoric, rebellious and wild. It embodies great dance music in its all its glorious variety across the eleven tracks. As Maya says on ‘Dove Days’, “It didn’t matter who you were or what you did, we were united by the music,”.

'Dove Days’ the LP stands as a reminder and testament of how true that still is.
