Shamanic  wirlwind is the result of a  spontaneous studio session with Ken Peacock and me. It was based  on a framedrum composition of mine. Ken then played  his flute in his  unique way. After that, the piece was further  developed and a whirlwind was created. It is an invitation to  leave everything behind and set out for new horizons.

Wintertales

There are days when you are overcome by melancholy and need to reflect on what is really important in life. It was the same with Aquamarine. This piece emerged from a small idea on the Rodes piano, followed by drums, guitar and bass. No samples, everything recorded live and always in one piece. 80 bpm is already a challenge and so this piece of music simply gets a somewhat bulky and at the same time flowing mysticism through the playing. The moment was captured perfectly. Not slick and midi-slick, but pure playing. Simply honest music. Katrin, the woman at my side, loved it immediately and found herself in it. I hope this is also the case for you. Enjoy the slowness of being. Take a deep breath

Sin Palabras

When Barnim Schultze visited me in spring 2024, he produced around 14 hours of very useful material. Steven Craven was also there one day. This piece was also created in a cycle of 7 pieces. LSD, based on the frequency foundation that Barnim had developed through his work with Hans Custo. This piece, which can basically accompany a deep meditation, was enriched by the trumpet with the ether and I as the drummer gave the whole thing a grounding again. A very interesting experiment, which above all emphasised the differences between the individual players. With the use of the most modern sampling technology as well as traditional classical instrumentation and the post-punk-infused drummology, a very unique and time-describing sound composition was created. Planetarium Nights

Moon Synod is based on a basic track that Barnim Schultze gave me to do whatever I want with it. Based on the cosmic frequencies, I had the possibility to express my very personal percussive view on it.
Since I work closely with trumpeter Steven Craven, it was natural for him to apply his incredible talents to this dreamlike piece.
The result is a wonderful piece
that allows you to dive deep into wonderful worlds full of harmony and positive energy.

Moon Synod

Trouble times is the result of a collaboration between Ullip, Steven Craven and Stephan Hendricks. Made in a time of deep depression during the Covid era. The problems of the time, the oppressive feeling of life during this time, are reflected in the piece, but so is the way out of it. The beauty and harmony of diving back into life. It consists of two parts.
The first part is an energetic rebellion against everything that was happening.
Driving drums by Ullip
and extatic keyboards by Stephan Hendricks symbolise this. In the second part, Steven Craven's wonderful trumpet solo heralds the way to inner centre and harmony. A piece with a smooth ending

The Free Music foundation consists of a truly international cast:

Mark Hewins from England (Margate) on guitar : Mark looks back on a really varied musical past. As a member of "Gong"
or collaboration with Lou Reed and Phil Collins he has produced many scents in the music world.

Zhiyong Zhang from Hong Kong on saxophone also looks back on a great experience in Asia and works as a music teacher in Hong Kong.

Steven Craven on trumpet has been a member of the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra for many years and has won several awards as best cornet player
  in  his home country.

Scotty Böttcher from Dresden ist a Master of freestyle Jazz on Organ,Keyboards, Mallet and Bass. He made  a lot of international Projects .

This mixture of the music rebel Ullip with decades of experience in Instand composing, the highly innovative sound tinkerer and outstanding
Mark Hewins on guitar, the brilliantly playing Zhang on saxophone with his passion for jazz, coupled
with the unique playing style of Steven Craven on flugelhorn, results in a fresh new way of creating jazz.

Live Recording Album - Soundgarden Project There have been many artists or creators from all spheres experimenting with all kinds of resources that life itself makes ready available to us. Finding the right balance of formulas for results that have a functional purpose is most often nothing more than an Enigma. Here Ullip & Craven with the Sound Garden project are experimenting in the moment, not only with what nature provides, it goes deeper using energies through coulours , light, feelings and emotions that rise from deep in the soul. A kind of synesthetic existance and state of mind transmitted from person to person. Music is just another language which is able to transmit where words fail. It is a different kind of Science where musicians are experimenting in constant search of new formulas for ways to capture the emotions of audiences. The Sound Garden project is a more natural approach with an in the moment instant improvisation technique which takes the listener on a sound journey. Winter

the snow queen

In Dreaming Reality I worked intensively with a handpan. In this case, Terre`Music supplied me with a handpan riddim that is specially tuned to my percussive playing style and is tuned in F. I used it to record these tracks in my now somewhat expanded studio. The music was also inspired by the story of the Black Madonna, or rather Mary Magdalene, the wife of Jesus. Derived from this is the story of the Hieros Gamos of devoted love, which is basically the only true power. This can be read in particular in the books by Cathleen Mc Govern . This wonderful poetry then gave rise to these emotional pieces. An example of how a story can be told through sound without using words. Sound painting and channelling at the same time. This Tune is the result of collaboration with a  good friend in my musical universe.
The first part is recorded, produced and mixed in my Studio in Andalusia/ Spain  at "Bergtonstudio"
The second part is recorded produced and mixed in Dortmund Germany by S. Hendricks:

Stephan_Hendricks is a German musician, music producer, singer, composer and lyricist. Born in Dortmund, he first became known to a wide audience as the frontman of the band "Jelly Planet" before he started as a solo artist. He has released several albums with companies such as Sony Music, Virgin Records and so on. Together with his former band he wrote and composed a title for the Hollywood blockbuster "Igby Goes Down".

From Dark to the Light (Vom Dunkel ins Licht)

After our band S.Y.P.H. had split up again and everyone was pursuing different projects (Uwe Jahnke with the Fehlfarben, Peter Braatz at the Berlin Film Academy), only me and Jojo remained in the former S.Y.P.H. rehearsal room at Schaberg in Solingen. So Jojo and I founded the Bit's project. Waldemar Kutschma (guitar and vocals) and Gintaras Gaubis (keyboards, piano, percussion) joined us. A really wild, sensual music found its great outlet. At this time, I built the drinking water studio into the rehearsal room. 180 square metres became the centre of extended sessions where many of the pieces on the Home Run were created. Then Waldemar and Gintaras contacted Michael Karoli and visited him in his studio in France (Les Roussinolles near Nice.) This led to the desire to do a recording session there and produce a record. After I had rewired the studio and included the rooms in his house (drums in the living room of the house of a former olive mill) vocals and percussion were done in his empty pool, Jojo and Waldemar were in the studio room. We mainly worked at night because it was unbearably hot that summer. The result was 4 tapes with 2 hours of music. With this result we drove back and only I went back to Michael's studio Outerspace several times for mixing and editing...

Madhhuvanthi is the first piece of a concert in the heart of Axaquia in Andalusia. For the first time Nizaar Khan (master of the Sarod) and Ullip on the Madga (he lives in Andalusia) play live together. It was as if two had sought and found each other. This beautiful raga, which is a tribute to the beauty and grace of women, was recorded live. (Thanks to Rechungpa from Scirocco in Alcaucin) It was then mixed and mastered at Ullip's Periana mountain sound studio.

It is a piece of incomparable dynamism and joy of playing by the protagonists. A piece to fall in love with, to appreciate jazz rock, progressive and psychedelic music. Not a piece to just listen to in passing. It will challenge you. Get involved and you will experience a rapid flight through time with all its antagonisms.

Statement 99 is my emotional response to all the bloody violence, power games and world-wide arson that is currently being perpetrated across the globe. Unbearable suffering torments people, regardless of their skin colour, religion or political beliefs. A few puppet masters are playing with world peace and, out of greed for money and obsession with power, are conjuring up a world war. How crazy do you have to be to believe that you can hide in a bunker and then everything will be fine again? 
Statement 99 is my cry for change with all my might.

This song was created during a studio session with Barnim Schultze (Akasha Project). Together we recorded the basic take. Then it lay dormant for a while in the depths of my archives, only to resurface now, fittingly, in this windy season. I completed it with additional instruments, and the result is like a walk by the sea with the wind blowing through your hair. Melancholic and peaceful at the same time. The old can go and the new is washed up to us. The flow of life, in other words. Enjoy the wind.

This tune came  about from a Visite to Ullip and Katrin´s  wonderfull House in Periana. Ullip laid  down some rhythm in his Studio  and Ken pot the Ising on the Cake. The Cake  was a snowcaped Mountain where we trudged through thick Snows as we searched for a path.

Snowbound

These turbulent times have not left me unscathed either. So I have processed some of my emotions about current events musically here. This first part of a series of publications on the subject of emotions describes the period from the Big Bang to the massive global volcanic activity at the time when life began to develop on our planet.  Essentially, it is a painting that uses sounds instead of colours. At the same time, it accurately reflects the situation on our planet today, where nothing is reliable anymore, where power interests and money overshadow everything human, and confusion arises about the path ahead of us. A small time capsule of my view, nothing more. It is as it is.

Ullip's music can best be described as a versatile mix of ambient, jazz, electronic music (especially drum & breakbeat, drone) and intuitive music/contemporary classical, which is often atmospheric, relaxing, but also rhythmically driving, with elements ranging from gentle melodies to experimental sounds described as ‘percussive emotions’ or ‘vitamin sea’. 
Key features:
Genre mix: There is no single pigeonhole; Ullip moves between ambient landscapes, jazz influences, electronic beats (such as drum & breakbeat) and classical-intuitive compositions.
Atmosphere & emotion: Many tracks are aimed at relaxation and meditation (‘Still Like a Stone Structure: Meditation’, ‘The Spirit of Relax’), while others appeal to a deeper, emotional level (‘Percussion drives emotions’).
Instrumentation: There are both gentle, melodic parts and hard guitar sounds and driving percussion, creating a dynamic soundscape.
Titles & moods: Titles such as ‘Scirocco Drift’, ‘Deep Water’, “Wintertales” and ‘Trip to Universe’ suggest expansive, often nature-loving or cosmic moods.
