hate the summer was a song that was me replicating how I imagine my ex thinks of me, or at lesat thought of me at a very specific point in time that highlights itself as my ex's most desperate point. That's why I made all the vocals sound so distant from each other, it's because my ex was suffering from DPD symptoms at the time, and because of how many things were changing in his life at the time. Hate the summer sounded bad because it was aa replica of the mind of a broken hearted incredibly desperate 12 year old. I didn't feel as much need to retry the lines because I liked how it sounded when I messed up for that reason.
