Containing five synthesiser-led pieces, ‘Loon’ was recorded in autumn 2014 across five days at Nils’s Durton Studio in Berlin, and continues on from the ambient sounds of ‘Stare’ but with the addition of more percussive elements and dub influences. For this new EP the duo wired an Oberheim 4 Voice and a Korg PS3100 to the mixing desk and performed live takes on both instruments. With all four hands on its pots, all mixes were recorded straight onto 2-track ½-inch tape.

Like on ‘Stare’, their first collaborative affair in 2012, they simply followed what was laying in front of them, and this time they were driven by some new synths, a kick drum and tape effects. Indulging in dub, the tracks where all performed rather than engineered, with Ólafur riding a few elements on faders and Nils bringing effects in and out. After running several mixes, they went for the five strongest moments from this session. The release was announced on a joint website www.arnaldsfrahm.com together with the launch of an intimate 45-minute studio film titled ‘Trance Frendz’, featuring another seven improvisations.

“When I was young I was smuggled to Goa parties by my brother. The music played there in the late nineties had a somewhat deep effect on me. ‘Loon’ is almost a blurry memory of these times. Following his contribution to Mahiane’s Oxycanta III compilation, German composer Lars Leonhard, whose music has been regularly used by Nasa to illustrate their videos, joins Ultimae for a series of digital EPs. 
Here comes the second chapter [ Burning Clouds ], a three tracks EP which presents delightfully oneiric music. Lars once again proves his talent in these ambient tales infused with warm sub basses, sparkly sounds and slow grooves.

Robert Rohaly a.k.a. StereOmantra is back on radiOzora with an exclusive mix based on his latest album 'Synethesia'.

StereOMantra is Robert Rohaly, a Hungarian music composer from Budapest. After years of classical piano studies he made his first electronic music compositions in the 90′s, experimenting with Impulse Tracker and even older “DAW”s and gradually developed to an advanced level through related studies and much practice.

Ever since the genre exists, he has been believing that that art and science meets most perfectly in psytrance, therefore he tried himself in different kinds of related genres through the years until he finally found ‘progressive chillout’ the most suitable, capable of expressing deep feelings of a wide range. Mostly inspired by chill artists like GMO & Dense, Lab’s Cloud, Aes Dana, Ascent & Argus, CBL and Solar Fields, now he is trying to raise psy chill on a new level, bringing gentle new atmospheric trippy chill sounds to you ears.

For us the impossible dream was to one day meet Robert Rich, thank you to the organizers for having realized our dream and for allowing us to participate in this awesome concert with talented artists.
Maybe that eventually all our dreams are possible ...

Impossible Dream

The composition of this Far & Off album began after on long period of detachment and isolation. 

This modern life we lead tends to saturate many of us with information, constant stimuli of all kinds and shatter time, as if we lived in small sequences. Some of us content themselves with that, some manage to regulate or tighten the flow, others collapse or pretend not to. 

I guess I'm not the only one to ever feel the need to fly away, remove myself from the ongoing swirl and purely vanish. 
It wasn’t a matter of waking up with a sudden urge, it built up, slowly, between the lines, it wasn’t caused by any philosophical, spiritual or religious belief either. It simply became a natural answer to the surrounding frenzy. 

To be on my own, far, in another context, without technology, an act of protection. Taste real solitude, a state in which no one else exists; cross the line, change rhythm and feel the passing of time. 
This is what I am sharing with you now, with keys and sounds, pads and patterns, glitches and drums. My desire was to compose contrasted tales, to bring light on the paradox, from one extreme to the other, harshness to tranquility. 

Mihalis, as he encountered a similar situation was keen on putting those emotions into music and the perfect partner as it turned out.

This concept is at the heart of Ultimae Records, an ambient music record label and publisher dedicated to transporting listeners to the outer edges of experience through sound and offering a space for introspection and discovery within the vastness of the mind and beyond.

In 1999, Vincent Villuis and Sandrine Gryson, also known as AES Dana and Mahiane, united over a shared passion for the immersive world of electronic music. This collaboration led to the birth of the label. Initially envisioned as a musical portal, Ultimae’s mission was to explore and disseminate the diverse expressions of Ambient music far and wide through the production of records and the establishment of an online shop.

Over the years, Ultimae has expanded beyond its original scope, evolving into a multifaceted company with sound design, post-production, and mastering studios based in Lyon, France, along with professional services in publishing, music licensing, and synchronization.
