MIDI Connections #3 (live sessions)

The latest Métron Musik Mixtape is something of an unusual treat. Not much is known or written of UK based artist Ishq, and fittingly his music is as hard to pin down as the artist himself. It’s therefore an honour that he was willing to provide us with this mixtape, a 90 minute exploration of unexplored aural pastures - showcasing old and new music from the mysterious producers wonderfully rich and beautiful discography. Within it Matt Hillier spans the depths of planetary oceans, searches the far reaching vacuums of the cosmos and prods at rarely accessed parts of our own reality.

‘Ishq’ roughly translates as ‘love’ but the word is used in Persian and Arabic literature with a broader definition, a relationship between man and its creator. There’s a sense of the divine and spiritual in the 90 minutes of music here. The Cornwall based producer taps into something seemingly larger and more cinematic than our every day existence. Somewhere out there that we kind of know but rarely visit. 

Turn it up, close your eyes, and explore his world.

Métron Mixtape - 008 - Ishq

From the passionate lands of France, Arnaud Galoppe, known as Focal and Kinosura, has hand-mixed an emotional labyrinth of dark techno and melancholy ambience in Ultimae’s latest compilation.
Polarity is a double-sided conglomerate of electronic expressions from all over the world, spanning across atmospheric soundworlds of intimate drone and deep, industrial progressions.
This collection of heartwarming soundscapes and foot-stomping house beats is smoother than butter, a series of 26 top-notch tracks that paint an interesting, auditory adventure. Although the album has a minimalistic approach, it offers a surprisingly detailed production. Each track is layered with expert craftsmanship and hypnotic melodies laced against diverse, psychedelic noise echoing in the distance.
Polarity is certainly an experience worth traversing, and we are proud to host it as an excellent addition to any electronica connoisseur's sound-library.

The Polarity artwork was imagined by plasticians Suzy Lelièvre and Raphaël Kuntz.
From a sphere, they conceived a parametric deformation protocol for a decomposition in several stages.
While Suzy imagines shapes and the potential modifications to impact, Raphaël works on the incarnation process to extract a mineral matter look, something geological, almost chemical. As they materialise, with slow lighting work, shapes undergo random offsets, revealing the tension between a near scientific protocol and its subjective interpretation. Beyond the infinite production of singular shapes, the goal of both artists, especially for this project, is to invent new processes that invite a reconsideration of our attitude to shapes.
In the same way, from Ambient to Techno, through a game of modulation of pads, rhythms and frequencies, Polarity offers a variety of musical spectra flowing into one another, a melodic exploration of the twists and turns which link both universes.

This is a release against the violation of human rights and abuse of the Chilean people by the government and the military police army.
This is the call to a social change from a group of artists united in a humanitarian cause. This is the shout of strength and support from the global techno music community.

La furia del Pueblo is an album that we have been working on for almost two months in which artists from different places of the world have collaborated, to demonstrate the union and support that is being given to the people from Chile, who has been fighting and demanding dignity; but at the same time being vilely repressed by military and armed police that has abused and violated human rights in countless occasions, the current government and particularly President Sebastian Piñera being the absolute culprit of everything that has been happening.
This release aims to make all this go out to the world and that people know that we are united and support this type of instances, that we are not only producers or djs thinking about parties, drugs and excesses as they want to make us see the media normally.
Adicionally the money left by the sales in digital format of these tracks will be given to people in a street situation in the form of food and shelter, since they are the most unprotected, because they have absolutely no help from anyone. A few years ago we worked with an Ong and we do not like how they work, they were very transparent, so we will do this work with my family and friends, as we have done since the movement started, there are many ways to help and this It can be one more.
It is time to give a furious shout through techno music and show that we are just parties and drugs as they usually stigmatize us. La Furia del Pueblo is a shout of strength and support from several of the most influential artists of techno music yesterday and today managed and runned by Utch Records and will be available on December 30 in our bandcamp and from January 17, 2020 on all digital platforms.

Derived from the Latin “Ultimae Terrae,” meaning “the furthest places,” the name Ultimae reflects a profound theme of exploration. This concept is at the heart of Ultimae Records, an ambient music record label and publisher dedicated to transporting listeners to the outer edges of experience through sound and offering a space for introspection and discovery within the vastness of the mind and beyond.

In 1999, Vincent Villuis and Sandrine Gryson, also known as AES Dana and Mahiane, united over a shared passion for the immersive world of electronic music. This collaboration led to the birth of the label. Initially envisioned as a musical portal, Ultimae’s mission was to explore and disseminate the diverse expressions of Ambient music far and wide through the production of records and the establishment of an online shop.

Over the years, Ultimae has expanded beyond its original scope, evolving into a multifaceted company with sound design, post-production, and mastering studios based in Lyon, France, along with professional services in publishing, music licensing, and synchronization.
