This song was written by Donna Summer for the play Ordinary Girl.The "begin again" aspect of the song refers to this major life change, where she was able to move past her destructive past and start a new chapter grounded in her religious beliefs. Summer was working for years on an autobiographical stage musical also called Ordinary Girl. She described it as a "contheatre," a hybrid of a concert and a theatrical performance that would feature both new songs and reworked hits.
