Diría que "Circus EP" tiene un poco de más groove que mis producciones anteriores; he trabajado mucho más con bajos. Antes mi música era más mínimal entrelazado con energía techo, pero para esta referencia no hago ninguna mezcla. Creo que se podría decir que este es mi nuevo sonido, que se encuentra entre tech-house y techo. Las lineas de base son más house pero llevan consigo siempre una energía techo.

Rekids founder Radio Slave readies a colossal double A-side titled ‘Overdue’ this June.

“‘The Revenge’ is my homage to clubs like “Rage" and my days growing up in London", says Matt Edwards. “The Reverse’ came from some late night studio sessions in February and I’ve had a lot of fun playing this out. All I can say is it’s very me - stripped back and made for the dance floor”.

Urban field recordings and a spoken word sample set the tone in ‘Revenge’ before an onslaught of breaks erupt into a frenzy; the overall aesthetic borrows upon numerous UK rave hallmarks whilst sounding fresh and impeccably geared for modern DJ use. Appearing on ’Kish Kash’, Basement Jaxx’s third studio album, the unforgettable single was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Dance Recordings category and also reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and number 2 on Hot Dance Club Play in the US. ‘Good Luck’ also featured as the opening theme of 2004 anime movie Appleseed, Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 2003 and 2005, and a version without lyrics was used for the opening sequence of BBC’s UEFA Euro 2004.

Real name Bülent Gürler, German producer Butch has been a formidable force within house and techno for over two decades, enchanting crowds from all across the globe with his technical performances. Highly regarded for producing compelling grooves, his releases have appeared on labels like Desolat, Cocoon, Rekids and Sei Es Drum, not to mention collaborating alongside Virginia, C. Vogt and Ricardo Villalobos (as Butric).

Receiving regular early support from Villalobos, Butch has provided three different renditions of ‘Good Luck’ and the ‘Remix’ is a rhythmic roller from the off, featuring numerous elements from the original whilst generating a cacophony of percussion as Kekaula’s iconic voice is chopped and looped – the result is high- octane and geared for the dancefloor. The ‘Dub’ strips things back, purely using segments of the vocal for instrumental purposes as a whirring bassline joins deep synths and mesmerising effects. Tying it all together, the ‘Drum Tool’ is a high-tempo percussive cut produced for peaktime DJ sets.

A bold statement against insular club culture, closed minds and lack of innovation, ‘The Choice’ continues Catz ‘N Dogz positive broadcasts with the help of Miss Bunty and three great friends on remix duties. Bunty instantly flips us back 25 years to a warehouse in New Jersey with a soulful, provocative sermon about the best things in life, people and places. Finally we have Soul Notes and Shall Not Fade affiliate Adryiano close the case. Laying down a bed of peppy organs, he creates a fittingly classic garage vibe for Bunty to sign out to. Gerd Janson: Sometimes, it's enough to hear a record out loud in a party context to fall in love with it. Gordon is such a record. Made one day before Miami's infamous Rakastella party, premiered there on Will Renuart's The Kiss stage and being one of the highlights during a shared slot with DJ Tennis, I was secretly hoping for Running Back to get awarded with it. It basically sums up all the qualities of a DJ Tennis set: you get the highs and lows, the loud and quiet parts, it pogoes and it prances and it's basically impossible to resist his shuffle. Starck on the other hand, scaless it a bit down, but is equally overwhelming as are the atmospheric respectively cinematic versions of both tracks  less imaginative people might call them ambient. Game, set, match! Thank you, Manfredi!

Madhouse Records reveal their second ‘Kerri Chandler Remixed’ instalment this October, with fresh interpretations from Henrik Schwarz, D’Julz, KETTAMA and Marquis Hawkes.

Founded in 1992, Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records has been flying the flag within electronic music as one of the industry’s most well respected and quintessential imprints for over 25 years, delivering quality productions from leading names across the complete house sphere. Having welcomed Detroit Swindle, Peggy Gou, Josh Butler and Jimpster to remix Chandler in their first ‘Remixed’ instalment, released in early 2018, here we see the imprint revisit the label founder’s iconic discography once again as four new names rework a fresh selection of both solo and collaborative cuts, with Henrik Schwarz, D’Julz, KETTAMA and Marquis Hawkes combining to deliver Vol. 2 this October.

Up first, our premiere today, Henrik Schwarz’s take on Chandler and Jerome Sydenham’s 1999 cut ‘Powder’ builds upon the original production’s slick drum work with rich, jazz-tinged chords to reveal an elegant and stylish slice of house music, whilst D’Julz’s groove-heavy remix of ‘Peace Of Mind’ fuses dubby pads and skipping organic drums packed full of swing as the Parisian turns in yet another must-have effort. Next, KETTAMA’s bustling ‘Garage Remix’ of Kerri and Lafayette’s ‘Better Late Than Ever’ takes cues from its title as the Irish talent hones in on a snaking, driving bassline accented by classic soulful vocal hooks, before rounding out proceedings in style through Marquis Hawkes ‘Classic Club Vocal’ remix of Kerri Chandler and Jiletta Riley’s ‘The Way It Was’, unveiling a sun-soaked and infectious final cut that pays homage to Chandler’s trademark New Jersey palette in ever-impressing fashion.
