Detroit Swindle – AKA – Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are back with their first new material in a year and it’s great!

The two have been making waves, particularly in the UK over the past month and it’s excellent to have them back in full swing. From bringing their own ‘Great Escape’ party to Leeds to performing an endearing set at Fabric on Valentines day, it seems like almost the perfect time to bring you an exclusive first listen to the pairs brand new ‘The Punch Drunk EP’

The extended play leads off with ‘Allright (We’ll Be)’ a feel-good slice of future-retro discoid filter vocal house. The Dutch duo have nothing to do with Detroit – or techno – but have crafted a track that plays like a classic Nervous or Strictly Rhythm soundtrack. 

Second track ‘Pursuit’ is more of chuggy, deeper track enthusing smooth, melodic synth pads, deep, groovy low-end sounds and easy-listening piano chords. 

The EP is set for release through the duo’s own label Heist Recordings on the 23rd February and will be available through all major music distribution sites.

A homage to the infamous nightclub ’ The Muzic Box’ (former name ’ Warehouse’) from Chicago where Jackin’ was developed with a smile on your face.

Click Click has been one of Berlin’s best kept underground DJs. We have been enjoying his DJ-sets so much it was natural we asked for a release. When he dropped ’The Muzic Box’ for the first time, Shir Khan immediately wanted to sign the track and there we go!

The last 2 years saw him releasing records on Green Velvet’s/Cajmere’s Cajual Records, San Franciscos OM Records or his own label Kassette Records (which he co-runs with M_Ferri). With regular DJ Gigs at Berlin’s Watergate and Stattbad Wedding or Sao Paulos D.Edge, the future is looking bright for this very talented producer.

With his last EP offering on Keinemusik, &ME displayed himself once again as supplier of anthems that easily reconcile style with general floor purpose. You would think, such an universal and inexhaustible tune as this very “After Dark” can only be a lucky hit. But no, he’s knocking out the classic material just like that. Another example? Catalog number KM028, his brandnew “Trilogy” EP.
The titletrack on A initially places a synth arpeggio behind a kick that in dryness is hardly to excel. The beat of "Trilogy" is then seasoned with rimshot patterns until the saturated bassdrum comes in and paves the way to the dancefloor. &ME even refines his knack for stoic grooves on this jam and once again shows his sure feeling for suitable vocal features. Sabotas croon comes devoid of big gestures and still knows the ropes to appeal to the collective mentality of a clubcrowd.
On the flipside, “Woods” is living up to its name from the very beginning. Woody percussions are thumping within an almost subtropical scenario that’s frequently pervaded by mighty synth clouds. And once again, there’s an arpeggio sneaking in that at some point is taking the lead in this strictly instrumental affair. Add a break building that will educe a floor’s complete euphoric potential without going for the rather mindless escalation and there you have it: a B-side that’s actually more of an A-competitor.

Rekids founder Radio Slave readies a colossal double A-side titled ‘Overdue’ this June.

“‘The Revenge’ is my homage to clubs like “Rage" and my days growing up in London", says Matt Edwards. “The Reverse’ came from some late night studio sessions in February and I’ve had a lot of fun playing this out. All I can say is it’s very me - stripped back and made for the dance floor”.

Urban field recordings and a spoken word sample set the tone in ‘Revenge’ before an onslaught of breaks erupt into a frenzy; the overall aesthetic borrows upon numerous UK rave hallmarks whilst sounding fresh and impeccably geared for modern DJ use. Meanwhile, ‘Reverse’ is a quintessential Radio Slave record with its polished production, repetitive minimalism and atmospheric aura – rounding off a two-tracker expertly produced with the dancefloor in mind.

Floorplan delivers two excellent reinterpretations of Radio Slave ‘Feel The Same’, the title track from the Rekids founder’s forthcoming album.

Made up of former Underground Resistance member Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric, the Detroit duo needs little introduction and last year saw the release of their illustrious album ‘Victorious’ on Hood’s M-Plant.

The first remix of ‘Feel The Same’ extends to eight minutes long and is a journey; incorporating echoing chords, intricate percussion and a medley of esoteric effects whilst cackling laughter ebbs in and out of the mix. Meanwhile, the flip sees a more up front interpretation with its heady hook, rolling drums and energetic claps.
