Few	DJs and producers have credentials	quite	 like Sammy Dee’s. A longtime fixture of Berlin’s club scene, a cornerstone of the esteemed Perlon imprint and	a regular DJ and Panorama Bar and Club der Visionaere, his taste and signature style could hardly be more well-­‐honed. Earlier this year, he	 created a	new	platform for his unique take on house and techno: Ultrastretch, a label that hit the ground running with a 12" inch by Matthew Burton. Slick,	modern and touched with surrealism, the record had all of the unique flavor one would expect from a label by Sammy, proving his skills as a selector extend well beyond the DJ booth.	

Ultrastretch’s second release lives up to the same high standard. Much like Matthew Burton, Seuil is a highly imaginative producer who’s kept a low profile despite a string of excellent records. Based in Paris, his lean and funky sound has placed him at the forefront of his city’s reemerging party scene. Many of his past releases have been punchy but subtle, balancing dance	floor	utility with an ear for restraint.	
   	
On “Oamer” he	goes	even	deeper than usual, crafting a vivid afterhours track out of hypnotic drums and	bleary-­‐eyed chords—nervous one moment, euphoric the	 next. Like its title suggests, “Dark Rooms” is a clubbier  affair, charging ahead	with fragmented vocals and a brisk driving rhythm. This	is one to put on as the night turns serious. For the final track, Sammy brings in an old	friend:	
Baby Ford, one	of Germany’s finest purveyor’s of skeletal, ultra-­‐deep electronics. His	remix of	 “Oamer” expands on the	original’s	dreamy side, with sanguine chords and abstract imagery layered over a crisp bass drum. Aimed at the DJ and the connoisseur, Oamer is one of the	classiest records of the year so	far, from one of its finest new labels.

Following EPs from Matthew Burton and Seuil, the third release on Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch label introduces one of Berlin's most intriguing outsiders: Albert Schwartz. A native of Ghana now based in Germany, Schwartz has been DJing and making tracks for years, but aside from a few gigs with Sammy at Club der Visionäre, has mostly been kept secret until now. With Berry Deep / Drop, he shows a modern and organic style of house that makes him a perfect fit for the Berlin-based label.      

"Berry Deep" is true to its name: subtle, plodding and atmospheric, driven by an elliptical vocal bit. Much like Ultrastretch's past releases (or old Perlon records for that matter), it's the tiny, meticulous details that breath life into this one, like the bubbling major chords competing with the mournful strings, or the ghostly, almost imperceptible Marvin Gaye samples ("Hey brother! What's happenin...."). "Drop" brings the energy up a notch without losing its subtle touch. The drums are punchier and have a bit more momentum, but the tone is still somehow hushed. This time Marvin takes center stage, with lines from "Inner City Blues" strewn across the track. 

The EP's remix comes from Rhadoo, a core member of Romania's a:rpia:r crew (along with Raresh and Petre Inspirescu) and a past guest at Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch parties at Club der Visionäre. His microhouse "restyle" of "Berry Deep" gives the original a trippy edge, plus a bit more club-friendly oomph.

Berlin's art and music scenes has been inextricably linked over the past years. Ultrastretch embraces this relationship by continuing to cultivate an underground community where artists and musicians can share their ideas, collaborate on projects and foster creative expression. 

This collective is led by Sammy Dee, a respected producer in Berlin who has inspired artists around the world with his sound. Throughout his career, Sammy has met a number of talented artists who stretch across many genres and territories. Today he celebrates their success and continues to explore his musical heritage through collaboration under the elasticity of Ultrastretch.
