Ragoo Records presents Luzee's "Afro Sketches," a beat tape woven from the very dust of forgotten archives. Imagine a sonic cartographer, tracing the faded rhythms of field recordings from Africa and South America onto the circuitry of his MPC. In the studio, the raw samples are not just played but processed, warmed through the ageing transistors of a Tascam mixer until they pulse with a new, analogue life. This is music as reclamation, where the crackle of the source vinyl becomes part of the texture, stitching the past to the present in a seamless, instrumental narrative. The final product is a deeply textured fabric of sound, distilled into nineteen tracks, honouring its roots not through imitation, but through a gritty, intuitive resurrection.

Amid the album's archival explorations, "Cause I Go" emerges as a moment of pure, playful release. The track is anchored by a groovy, Afro-infused breakbeat that creates an undeniable physical sway. This rhythmic foundation becomes a canvas for soft synth leads that weave through the arrangement with a naughty, teasing quality. Percussive elements chatter in the gaps, adding a layer of textured complexity. At the heart of it all, looping vocal hooks transform into the track's magnetic centre, a cryptic and infectious phrase that pulls the listener deeper into its hypnotic, danceable spell.

Since The 8-Bit Guy sort of challenged me to come up with something on the B. Meowsic keyboard he reviewed here (https://tinyurl.com/y94cuwks), I had to respond (as I don't know when I'll be able to make another visit to the US this year). So here it is, The B. Meowsic Keyboard Song.

The keyboard itself is practically impossible to play on (without spending ages on getting every take right) so I took the liberty to sample the sounds from the keyboard and allow some light processing (layering sounds, lowpass filter to create some  bass sounds, compression and effects (delay, chorus and reverb)). The drum loops were slowed down as much as possible, then I sampled what I could of the separate drums being played. Unfortunately there were no separate crash cymbals, and the entire keyboard operates close to 22.05 KHz so the entire sound palette is a little muffled, but hopefully it sounds nice nonetheless. :)

This is a remix or remake of the old and slightly famous demo song made for the Roland SC-55 range of GM modules. Adrian Scott initially wrote the song in 1989 as a demo for the W-30 Music Workstation, sampling the guitar with playing noises. He also needed a melody and his friend and vocalist, Penny Dryer did a vocal part. However, since the W-30 had limited sampling memory, he could only record the "doo" sound plus a line at the end of the song.

Roland's team back then was thrilled and wanted the song and the doo sample. And thus the famous «Voice Oohs» was born, which have been a fixed sound in every GM compliant module, synth and soundset ever since. The song was made as a homage to a great demo that had a huge impact on every kid who listened to the Sound Canvas series back in the early 90s. The premise is: "What if Leya grew up and had a daughter?".
