UMA is the name of music project lead by two Estonian musicians - Robert Jürjendal (guitar) and Aleksei Saks (trumpet/corno da caccia) whose skillful integration of live electronics and processing enables their music to be characterised as new-age, ambient, electronical and subtle ECM-style jazz. UMA came together in the beginning of 2007.

The repertoire of the ensemble consists of original works with the emphasis on creating beautiful and clear musical landscapes, haunting atmospheres which are as engaging as are intense. Within the musical projects of UMA there are no grandstanding solos or brash showy flights of technique as the musicians take a supportive, painterly approach to creating moods and detail.

The name UMA comes from the South Estonian Setu dialect and means ‘own.’ 

The duo has released five albums Civitas Soli (2008), Hymn To Undiscovered Land (2010), Meeting Unknown (2012), Peidus Pool (2013) and Wishing Well on Myndstream (2021).
