UM Fact: Trip ODI was actually written as JL was headed to Dillon CO to play two night as the drummer for the Mike Berg band. JL was a last minute fill in on drums but wrote Trip ODI on his ride up with Kevin O to the gig. On both nights Mike Berg encouraged Kevin and JL to play the newly created track. the Song went over miserably on the Fri night gig but Slammed the packed house on Sat night. The guy sampled in the intro was a Schluring local at the bar on night one of the trip. This version was released on the ultra rare "Me and A Bunch of People" album JL released in 2004. The song was recorded at a Metro State University studio for a class project for Kevin O. Kevin O was on guitar, BeatNick(Nicko)was on Drums and JL on Bass n Vox. Kevin got an A on the project. I've got the Day OFF!
 

Trip ODI (OG version)

UM Fact: Only 4 months after the UM started gigging the Um was invited to open up for Ol Dirty Bastard at the Aggie Theater in Ft Colins CO. Two days after that show Ol Dirty was found in his studio dead in NY. This track was written by the UM soon after the tragic incident & became one of the bands favorites to play in honor of Ol Dirt Dawg. R.I.P. Ol Dirty...

Dead Man

UM Fact: "Play Games" was partially inspired by an incident where the band was let down after having false hopes of a record deal from Sony Records.The UM was approached by a few record labels along the way but after this massive let down the band had to confront personal reasons for creating in the first place.

Along with other members of the Um, the founding member of the UM JohnnyL, is still a musician/producer/recording artist/engineer. JL opened a recording studio in Aurora Colorado called Green Room Studios. Currently, sights are set on expanding a producing career as well as pursuing musical dreams with solo project JL UNIVERSE.
