The release date for this collection - August 8, 2024 - also holds significance to its narrative; another intriguing facet to this conceptually-driven, artistic opus. Featuring 8 tracks, released on the 8th, and with the sum of 2024 amounting to 8, Victor sought to imbue his music with a sense of intentionality and depth, offering his listeners a meaningful and memorable experience tied to the alignment of numbers.
 
"This release is my way of pushing back against the transient nature of today’s music industry," says Ruiz. "I wanted to create something that would stand the test of time, that people could connect with on a deeper level. 'This Is Not An Album' is my revolt to a scene that often prioritizes quick hits over lasting impact.” He continues, “People may think that this has been a very elaborate project but it’s not. I started listening to electronic music at the age of 5 and never stopped doing it. With 13 I started playing around with a Digital DJ Software and was amazed that I could form the music the way i want. After the years practicing and learning different kinds of DJing, having first experience with playing with an audience it all stopped. Nobody listened to it anymore. I didnt care, and kept going my way trough all different kinds of elecronic music. Today, as out of all sudden people love electronic music again there is a big problem: its very easy to become a DJ. People are losing their "sense" for Music because they listen to bad DJs everywhere. They dont care about the details. Playing on a Mainstream Event in front of 500 People might give you fame and money, but thats nothing compared to playing at an underground party with 50 People freaking out, because they feel and celebrate my music the same way i do.

Meet UMEK, a techno legend from Slovenia.
UMEK is personally responsible for kickstarting the electronic music scene in his home country by first organizing illegal raves and then becoming one of Slovenia’s most wanted export products and number one music ambassador to the whole world.
And he does fly! Around 100 times per year, visiting almost every continent each year. His gig diary ranges from dark underground clubs in Berlin to massive techno stages on world’s most renowned festivals. Apart from making his name in the DJ booth, he’s also a tireless producer. He mostly releases on his own imprint 1605, and most of his tracks end up on the very top of Beatport’s charts. After more than 25 years as a professional musician, he decided to use his experience and skills in the entrepreneurial world. Together with his managers, he founded a music- tech startup Viberate (www.viberate.com), where they are building the world’s greatest music platform.
