When the Keepers, They Were Sleeping

This is a ten minute re-working of my original five minute piece created as an entry for the Charles Parker prize.

Gerald Turner is a Kentish Gamekeeper and countryman. When this interview was made he had been involved in keepering for over thirty years. He has since retired.

He represents an example of on of the last people, in the suburbanised south east, who were able to live, to any extent, a traditional country lifestyle.
 
Recorded in Mr. Turner's kitchen and whilst night shooting (lamping) for rabbits in Knole Park, Kent.

When the Keepers, They Were Sleeping Redux

This is an as-is live recording of the original radio comedy "The 1940s". Uncut, unimproved. Warts and all.

It was recorded in the Assembly Rooms Theatre, Durham on Friday 23rd 2009 between 9:30 and 10:30 pm (roughly).

Joey Mellen became a central part of the European consciousness expansion movement via Eton, Oxford and mid 1960s Spain. 

In 1970, after meeting Bart Hughes he joined a small community of people who have taken the ultimate measure for expanding consciousness, trepanation.
