Tomoki and his Holic Trax label have long been serving up solid house music whilst Tuccillo has conjured up numerous Beatport chart toppers on labels like 2020Vision, Visionquest and Holic Trax. Here their unique style brings you back from classic house music to future minimalism and is sure to fill you with joy.
Up first is the title track, a charming house shuffler with woozy synths, light footed percussion and skipping rhythms that give an off kilter and deep dancefloor vibe.
‘Brother Other’ is a slightly more physical affair with lumpy beats, tense synth crescendos and stiff snares that really encourage you to shake your limbs.
Lastly, ‘Buri Planet’ is a deep and sensual number with clever vocals samples adding an element of pained soul, rubbery bass bringing warmth and golden synths and acid squelches
building yet more character.
This is accomplished, alive sounding house music that really does sound fresh. Doublet, then, is already off to a winning start.

tIJN & Dudley Strangeways - I Can't Cope (Tuccillo Remix)

Unblock label boss Tuccillo strikes again with another solid release with the EP Black Talk. This is the 5th release on this respected vinyl only imprint that has previously showcased talent such as Tomoki Tamura and Djebali but this time, comes from Tuccillo himself with his unmistakable signature sound.

Headlining track Black Talk has a great rolling baseline with plenty of swing with some subtle vocal snippets thrown in here and there.

Ride on has a tougher edge with some old school flavours driven by a rhythmic snare with lots of energy perfect for the height of club DJ set

Shopwork  offers a more percussive sound over an infectious warm chunky groove, again with some cool short reggae influenced vocal snippets.

A timeless release that can stay in the box.

It's latest continues in this regard, as Tamura again calls on a series of renowned friends to bring the heat. With names such as Mr.G, Satoshi Tommie and Tuccillo all appearing here alongside Tamura himself, so it's no surprise that this 3 x vinyl record, celebrating 5 years is filled with drama and high points throughout.

This "Edition 1 of 5iVE YEARS HOLIC TRAX" is immediately obvious from the title that Mr.G's "Jumon EP". Pays homage to the label's Japanese heritage, 
A1 "Soba Shioyaki" is a dark and dexterous workout that marks another high point in a career filled with big records. Deep but tough, it's a perfect example of why the tech house master is so revered in underground circles. B1 "Komorebi" puts a tougher emphasis on the drums, as well as a weaving, subtle baseline that adds a further dynamic to his work here.

HT24 comes from Satoshi Tommiie & Tuccillo, two producers whose sounds are perfectly suited to Holic’s output. Their four-track contribution starts with “Do It”, a spiky catchy number that’s exciting from the off. “What Row” sees the boys inject some added funk into the equation, before “To Ray” ups the intensity with a raw, pulverising aesthetic that takes no prisoners. Wrapping up their side of the bargain is the digital only “You Know”, a real bumper of a track with Chicago-inspired synth stabs that help bring it to higher planes.
It’s the left to Tamura himself to close the offering via HT25. A1, the appropriately named “5ive Years’ is a techno workout of the type that’s notable for its off-kilter motifs and a stubborn, industrial feel. Unforgiving and full of atmosphere, it’s the sign of a producer who clearly knows his way around he mixing deck. “Polyphonic Six” displays the producer’s more introspective sound thanks to a melancholic perspective that’s hard not to embrace. All things told, this is a wonderfully diverse package from Tamura & co. Here’s to the next 5!
