There’s something inspirational about Lakeway’s refusal to accept the notion of style boundaries. Over the years, he has been one of the champions of innovating Bass music in the UK - with releases on some of the biggest labels in the game.

As Lakeway enters Version 2.0 of his musical career, we are honoured to help bring his newest release, the “No Escape” EP, to the world.

A combination of three heavyweight club tracks based around the 170bpm axis and a slower introspective grime collaboration with PAV4N, the EP follows no musical directive and is remarkably unique.

‘Lighter,’ ‘Unrequited Dub,’ and ‘All Massive All Crew” are all peak-time medicine - unapologetic big-room bangers with an experimental edge. On ‘No Escape,’ Lakeway teams up with Foreign Beggar’s front man PAV4N, to record an altogether different piece of work. Artfully combining elements of both ethereal melancholy and invasive industrial grime, together they explore one of the many sonic hairline fractures that exist between traditional musical tropes.

Formation Records is proud to present another mind-bending release from Ventus, with four cuts of growling drum and bass flavours that take you on a vast journey through his stylish sonics. 

‘Falling’ is a track with real attitude. With the drop on this track comprised of a masterful drum beat and a bass that warps and wobbles throughout, adding the depth that that will be ringing in listeners ears. 

The second track, ‘Levels ft. Servilious begins with a promising introduction once again leading to a drop that is sounding very dark and weighty indeed. This deep and dirty stomper comes with a thick bass and an industrial environment that takes you all the way through.

Next up, DJSS gives up his take on ‘Falling’. With a powerful drum section and polished composition of bass, this methodical stomp brings serious presence that is sure to leave the room full of dirty bass faces. 

‘Upbeat Roller is stone cold roller with hints of jungle, enlivened by the the clickety-clack of percussion gone feral. Ventus delivers a drop with dark dread-esque bass tones that never falls to stale clichés.

After a first release very noticed by Bungle, Sound Enforcers welcomes this time the prodigy M-zine, one of the best kept secrets from Belgium.

M-zine have just released their excellent debut album 'Know When You're Ready' on Bristol's Sofa Sound label. He has also signed to some of the hottest labels on the scene such as 31 Records, Dispatch Recordings or Commercial Suicide to name a few.

M-zine opens this new project with the track '150 Miles From Earth' in collaboration with his Belgian friend Atmospherix. A modern and trippy drum & bass that should shake more than one on the dancefloor. 'EightOEight' wants to be more deep & funky, again combining modernity and old-school influence to get something original out of it. Then come 'Clip2' and 'Tools' in a minimal and mental register, loaded with techno influences. Simple & effective.

Deep Within Recordings ignites their launch with a massive thirteen track compilation album, already setting a standard for the brand-new imprint in a way which many new labels won’t be able to match.

Pushing through only the most cutting edge up and comers from Austria, the UK and Luxembourg, this forthcoming album showcases exactly what this label has to offer the contemporary drum & bass scene.

Packed with hotly tipped names such as Hexa, Mofes, Kidsonic and Envy, three tracks featured have already seen support from the likes of Noisia via their radio show as well as a wide range of DJ spins, with the Deep Within Recordings sound already infecting club spaces throughout Europe.

Envy’s ‘Exile’ is the first track to take centre stage and it features sweeping levels of white noise which suddenly cuts out to leave you fully enveloped within its percussive segments. ‘Mars’ by Half Ace then rolls through with a more sci-fi inspired intro, one which develops into weighty levels of sub bass and tapping hi-hats. Hexa’s ‘Solitude’ brings through the more stripped back levels which he’s become well known for, without losing any of its desired impact. Then Jak’s ‘Apothic’ follows suit, just as cutting amongst its crashing drum sequences. Kidsonic’s ‘Gunman’ features an immersive soundscape, whilst ‘Orders’ from Master Error concentrates on its pumping kicks. ‘You’ll Never Know’ from M:FX continues the ruminating vibes, meanwhile Mofes ’Panthalassa’ features switches which keep you on edge. ‘Duplex’ from Nysn, Offline’s ‘Infamous’, Sedax’s ‘Subframe’ and ‘Trainride’ from collaborative duo Sequent & Skruff each hammer home the signature sound of Deep Within Recordings, whilst doing so with their own twists. Then finally, Teej & Division pull the LP to a close, with an amalgamation of driving drums and a bassline which takes you out into the murkier depths.

As a package, the first release from Deep Within Recordings lets you know what they’re about. With more scheduled for 2020, the imprint is looking to quickly elevate itself to a position that most labels have spent years trying to reach.
