Volume 4 of the 2022 Omni Sessions is here with more deep beats and epic atmospherics. Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint continues to blossom into one of the most prominent labels in the industry today, as the latest release sees the founder link up with Grammy Award Winning duo CamelPhat on a pair of massive techno tracks via the 'Kona' EP. Here Mixmag reveals the premiere of the EP's title track, a euphoric and anthemic peak-time techno cut packed with relentless energy. 

Alan Fitzpatrick had this to say on the new collaboration: “It’s always exciting for me to work with new artists and people that I think can bring a different take on things in the studio. As individual artists our styles are fairly different, and that always sparks some magic in the studio. This time round it was techno magic, in the form of 'Kona' and 'Liberation'"

The 'Kona' EP is set for release April 19.

Dizzy Gee has been djing since 1998. He launched Kriterion Recordings in 2018 with partner, Sy High. Kriterion is a digital, sister label of Criterion Records. Kriterion Recordings focuses on releasing soulful tunes.

Gee's musical influences include, Hip Hop, Soul, UK Garage, Jungle, Oldskool, Drum & Bass and anything that has magic weaved into the production.  Darren Griffin aka Kool Cut Dee (KCD) got Dizzy into music when things were not so good in his younger years. He is still one of HIS best friends and confidants to this day. If you have not heard his mixes yet you ain’t heard how it should be done! Look him up, you won’t be disappointed!

Unchained Mix Series 028 by Was A Be (Italy)

Launching onto the scene in 2015 with his Jah EP on Subtitles, Friction’s Shogun Audio was quick to snag a ride for a number of exclusive releases in the years that followed. Since then his music has attracted substantial attention. Not just due to his creative talent, but because each track he dreams up is a unique un-referenced body of work, often spanning a wide variety of influences and consistently pushing the perimeter of Bass. 

The Shaker EP on Unchained is both a ‘banging’ and sophisticated melting pot of Footwork, Rave and Drum’n’Bass. When asked what he felt about the project, he explained he was incredibly happy to be returning to his original sound. 

Whilst the title track is the EP’s warehouse four-to-the-floor Molotov, it is yet punctured with enough syncopated rhythms, vocal funk and menacing sonics for it to be a proper piece of mutant art. “Weasel”, like The Shaker, adheres to the school of explosive, but heads into tasteful tribal territory. “The Walk” then veers off script with luscious jazz, melody and intelligent meanderings of fragmented juke. 

Whilst all three tracks stand as a cohesive whole on their own, to spice the dish, China’s Radiax offers up another of his energising rollers with his remix of The Walk. 

Re-igniting his original pioneering sound, we welcome Was A Be to the Unchained family.
