What you are about to hear is not just any sunrise DJ set, but the farewell sunrise DJ set for a community I love and hold dear to my heart: NotaSexParty (aka NASP). 

It is also not a DJ set for just any random crowd, but rather a curation of humans that always inspire me to be my best self. Therefore, it is not a coincidence; in my humble opinion, that perhaps this is one of the best DJ sets I have woven in front of a live audience in my 20+ years of DJ craft. No detail was spared on every transition, every choice of track

On the crowd side of things it was no less epic. 

There were some people’s first time crowd surfing while The Beatle’s “Hey Jude” played as our second to last anthem as the sun FINALLY came out on our last day of camp. There was a giant circle of human chain of friends shoulder-dancing to LCD Soundsystem’s anthem “All my Friends” while we screamed/sang the lyrics from the top of our lungs. 

There was also an epic crowd sit-down right before all of this and before we slowed down our heart beats to a soft stop in unison… 

I only went there (to all of those places) because the crowd made me feel comfortable enough to do so.

It was the perfect storm of “epic-ness”. When I listened to it for the first time since performance, I realized that the musical story told here was a 2.75-hr long continuous anthem, one where I couldn’t believe we had another 40 minutes of high dance floor energy, and so I had to stop for a moment and ask for consent to keep going down “the (musical) rabbit hole”.

We danced, we laughed, we cried, we sweated, we loved, we jumped, we stomped, we screamed, we head-banged, we sang, we drummed (with Noah - @noahappel - love you brother) like a defiant crew of rebellious circus hippies in a magical co-created land… on a fucking Monday morning. 

No one could stop us. 

It was pure electronic dance music- sunrise Rock n’ Roll.
We were all in this together, we did this together.
