Hear the hybridized ecosphere of Uncivilized weave through its raucously shifting “ROWLINGS”, the third Single from a new album—entitled *Garden*, recorded live at Pioneer Works, and mixed to sound like a studio recording by Stephe Cooper—to be released at the end of 2020.

On "ROWLINGS", the nine-piece of woodwinds, percussion, guitars and electronics is augmented here by the dueling trumpets of Luther Wong and guest Jaimie Branch. We hear the bandleader set the tempo with a vintage tremolo amp engaged and guitar detuned. Branch dips in and out of the introduction with sly lines while the group’s flutist, Tristan Cooley, is heard slippling shards of bebop up and down his horn. Julian Cubillos, on a heavily reverbed guitar, chugs behind it all, with Dominic Mekky’s distorted organ adding a washed-out patina over the sounds. The band cuts out for a full second of mid-air silence during the exposition of the main melody: a hang-time breath amidst the creaking, winding atmosphere of joyous harmonies. Bowed double bass and bass clarinet —squawks and all—steer the ship toward a final crescendo, closing out this rambling, growling number.
