holy heck, Hank... the whole story is almost too good to be true, I was originally assuming it was all a tongue in cheek but now after reading yor comments thus far I'm leaning toward taking it at face value.

This week's Naviar Haiku challenge was based on this haiku by Kashyapi: "Silence arrives / as mountains / wrapped in rain"

I tried to represent the mountain as a contant, solid feeling bass note, with a cloud layer drifting over the top (the brassy sound). The rain was represented fairly literally with the random sequenced high notes, but then a second 'rainlike' sequence that morphs and changes over the course of a few bars is also present to give the chilly feeling and add more weight. By opening filters and adding harmonics the 'mountain' is given shape, and then disappears as the whole piece dissolves into silence at the end.   

Not only was this a single live take, it was also the first take! :-)

To prove how much of an inspiration these Haiku are:
The sound ideas came to me straight away on reading it, I sat at my un-patched modular, took aim, and there it was - from my head, into a bundle of wires, and recorded in the space of an hour.  I think that is a record for me :-) 

My track was made using my modular synth - I wanted to create a sort of glassy tone, but also to evoke evening. I find that the sound of a slowly played harmonica evocative of evening, so I aimed for a sort of harmonica / glass hybrid as my main 'melody'. I added another voice making some random twinkles to evoke the stars and twinkling lights.  This all needed something to contrast against, so a deep bass was added to add the weight of the evening shadows.  I then added a field recording of some birds to add a bit of air to it all.

This week's Naviar Haiku was written by Argentinian haiku writer Ertore José Palmero: 
"Sound of waterfall / in the night. I don't see it/ but I feel it's freshness"

I took my lead from a patch I had started yesterday, which had a sort of nocturnal feel to it, and adjusted some of the settings. I also added a 'waterfall' - white and pink noise through two filters - one to provide a deeper roar, the other to provide the lighter spray. I adjusted the settings as the track proceeds ,to give the feel of a distant waterfall getting closer and further away as you walk past.

This week's Naviar haiku is by Michael Dylan Welch: 
"Meteor Shower / A gentle wave / wets our sandals" 

As usual, a modular synth piece, one take with no overdubs or post processing.  

This track uses two short sequences to generate all the notes, through various treatments such as adding them together, sampling the resulting sequence, highlighting notes with volume and timbral changes, and also through audio-rate amplitude modulation of one oscillator by another, with each oscillator fed a different sequence.  

I wanted it to evoke a starlight sky and water, but not too directly. I shied away from adding a high falling sound, instead just adding a little portamento to the bass.

I did this by making a patch on the modular synth that uses white / coloured noise and various filters. I recorded this, and then processed it in Reaper to add some ducking glitches.
