Late September marks the arrival on the second edition of Unclear Records ‘A Tribute To Klang Club’ featuring Move D, Fred P, Christopher Rau and label-heads Easy To Remember.

The Unclear Records imprint has carved out quite the reputation over the past few years with an already impressive back catalogue featuring material from Juju + Jordash, Rick Wade, Gigi Masin and Gerry Read. Here thought we see the welcome return of the labels ‘A Tribute To Klang Club’ series with its second contribution, following the inaugural various artists package that boasted material from Baby Ford, Roman Fluegel and more.

Move D opens with ‘Rise!’ and delivers a typically brooding, hypnotic number before Fred P follows up with ‘Lush Life’ laying down raw acidic bass and ethereal pads alongside shuffled rhythms.
On the flip Christopher Rau’s ‘Unclear Joint’ ups the energy levels via weighty drums and intricate use of string, bass and vocal samples before label-heads Easy To Remember round off the package with ‘I Don’t Know’ a stripped back house cut led by sparse percussion, jazzy synth licks and soft pads.

Imre Kiss returns with Strangers, a four-track EP for Lobster Theremin sub-label MÖRK. The Hungarian artist has spearheaded the region’s renaissance in just a few fruitful years :opening the country’s first Boiler Room; launching Crisis Sound System with Aiwa and S. Olbricht; holding a residency at Budapest’s infamous LÄRM ; and taking his unique sound to world-renowned clubs such as Culture Box, Panorama Bar and Corsica Studios. Returning to the Lobster fold after a string of releases on the London-based label, here Imre presents a focussed sound - a clear evolution of the stargaze haze which has become his signature thus far. Casting a wide net in its exploration of form and function, Strangers reinterprets themes and styles from Bristollian bass and post-dubstep introspection to Drexciya-esque precision and 90's interstellar rave.

Italyʼs Unclear Records offers a warm welcome to newcomer, multi- instrumentals and eighteen year old producer Coltre to its roster this April with his Parque Lage EP. 

Alessandro Giacchi aka Coltre is a producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Arezzo in Italy, and what better place for him to mark his debut than the even impressive Unclear Records hailing from his hometown and run by close friend Niro and Elia Perrone, slotting him alongside the likes of Move D, Fred P, Gigi Masin and Roman Flugel on the roster, heʼs certainly in good company for his inaugural release. 

Title-track ‘Parque Lageʼ opens, with dusty jazz samples, warm rhodes, gritty rhythms and modulating bleeps perfectly showcasing Coltreʼs smooth and hypnotic style from the very beginning. The remix from Tusk Wax / ANMA Records / Cognitiva artist SofaTalk follows, adding a more insistent drum groove and wandering, jazzy synth licks throughout whilst storing the immersive essence of the originalʼs deep aesthetic. 
‘Makisʼ is up next, laying focus on stuttering synth chords, airy pads, squelching 303 acid lines and loose rhythms before ʼHello Taupeʼ closes the package on a dropped-tempo tip fuelled by shimmering chords, resonant licks, rumbling sub bass and off-kilter drums.

New Music Worldwide is a weekly mix series hosted by Thris Tian.

To celebrate Italian week, SofaTalk steps up for a special New Music Worldwide.

SofaTalk is the one man project of Italian based producer Piero Paolinelli. His music is influenced by the likes of Herbie Hancock’s Fender Rhodes technique, the post-disco sound of Arthur Russell and the Brazilian Jazz/Funk sound of Azymuth.

Combining these flavors, the Italian producer has had releases on labels such as Disco Soul Records, Tusk Wax, Banoffee Pies… just to name a few. He also runs the label Cognitiva Records, which has most recently released the music of DJ Rou & Lite Orkestra and has a forthcoming release on Omena Records, which will be out in September.

Unclear Records is happy to welcome new artist A Most Wanted Man to the family with his ‘Intentions Are Pure’ EP featuring three cuts of groove laden house. 

The title track features a wiggling bass line, underpinned by warm Rhodes chords perfect for any deep house heads out there. The groove is topped off with a clever vocal sample that has been pitched down giving the track a sexy and sultry vibe.
