The summer in Europe is approaching and here at Cinematique HQ we are ready for it.

Especially as we feel we have a very 'summerish' EP coming up for you. The Amsterdam based Daniel Zuur returns to Cinematique for only his second full artist EP on the label although we feel Daniel is one of the core members of our family. This ever friendly young man just keeps on rocking dance floors in and outside Holland. His set at the closing party of the infamous Berlin club Kater Holzig is considered as one of the highlights, so was his release on the related label Katermukke.

Now he delivers another beautiful pack of tunes. The title track comes in two versions and both have the potential to be amongst the festival anthems of 2014. Sun is shining, close your eyes, put your hands in the air and let yourself go! The other two tracks will likely make you dance as well as the funk in Daniel's productions simply can not be resisted. When you are called 'one of the most promising producers of the Netherlands' you have a tough job to do, but Daniel Zuur once again shows why he is considered as a very well respected musician.

Pryda 028 speaks to Prydz’ love of dark rooms and late nights, dancefloors with their heads down – audiences losing themselves in a journey, surrendering to the music, rather than demanding another recognizable drop.

Pryda 028 another genre defining release for Pryda – its house music but first and foremost it’s Pryda. The EP’s intricate blend and layering of harmonies and hooks, replete with that distinctive Prydz touch for melody, combine to make club music that just couldn’t come from anyone else.

I didn't understand it at the time. I fail to achieve any degree of understanding in the ensuing years, which are three in number. I presume Herb means that inherently you cannot be commercial and artistic. You cannot be commercial and quality. You cannot be commercial concurrent with have a preoccupation with the level of storytelling that you want to achieve. And this I have to reject. I don't think calling something commercial tags it with a kind of an odious suggestion that it stinks, that it's something raunchy to be ashamed of. I don't think if you say commercial means to be publicly acceptable, what's wrong with that?
As long as you are not ashamed of anything you write if you're a writer, as long as you're not ashamed of anything you perform if you're an actor, and I'm not ashamed of anything.
This is the area I know. But I think innate in what Herb says is the suggestion made by many people that you can't have public acceptance and still be artistic. And, as I said, I have to reject that.
