Sounds better than some of the last few smash hits to have hit the charts

Seems like it's hitting the capacity of the algorithm.

You need to allow the loops to "speciate".  I keep hearing different melodies and sounds that are good on their own merits, but that I don't necessarily want mated into each other. I may like a quiet pulsing loop, or a higher register melodic loop, or a syncopated loop, but these characteristics get lost when they get recombined back with each other.

For instance, this loop sounds nothing like the one before it. The next step should be to find a way to introduce a "barrier to breeding" whereby loops can diverge from each other.

DarwinTunes (2009-2016) was an experiment to see what kind of music we get as a result of evolution by natural selection applied to a computer-generated four bar loop.  The "synth patches" are evolved also - using additive synthesis (just sine waves).  The only human input was the choice of tempo, time signature, effects rack and few other minor things.
