Continuing to expand their repertoire further afield into the realms of drum & bass, Hospital Records proudly welcome Soulvent Records into the family! Soulvent has been at the forefront of the new generation of drum and bass since 2014. Founded by Joe Goss, Jack (Pola) Higgins and Liam Holyoak-Rackal, it all started over a conversation at a dubstep rave in the toilets. Since then, Soulvent have gained a reputation for their high calibre releases and vibe-packed events. The ‘Soulvent Meets Hospital’ compilation sees both imprints unite over 14 brand spanking new remixes of a selection of classics from the Hospital and Soulvent back catalogues - this is a serious sound collision!

Tuck straight in to the album with Nu:Tone’s dreamlike remix of the soul-oozed ‘Butterfly Effect’ by GLXY featuring Hugh Hardie and Visionobi. With the original racking up well over 1 million streams as well as support from Skankandbass, it is without a doubt one of Soulvent’s most remarkable releases. Nu:Tone delivers mesmerizing rolling drumwork, fluttering synths and his signature deep bassline injections on his 2022 remix.
 
Hugh Hardie steps up to the plate on remix duties for Japan-based Mountains’ electrifyingly feel-good track ‘I’m Free’ (feat. Kojo)’. Taking it into darker territories, Hugh switches it up and provides an upbeat stepper layered with mind warping basses and skittery plucks which are a sublime complement to the original which was taken from Mountain’s debut self-titled LP on Soulvent Records in March 2022.

Rising talent and one-to-watch DJ and producer Vektah has been making noise in the scene since his debut EP ‘Culture Shift’ dropped on Soulvent last year. Vektah heads up a jungle infused remix of Fred V’s ‘Program & Control’, taken from Fred V’s debut solo album ‘Radiate’. Expect enchanting chimes, shimmering synthesis and crystal clear percussion.

VA EP series ‘Tonics: Batch 1’ which shone a light on some of the scene’s mosst exciting upcoming talent. Whiney crafts up an instant rave damager with system thumping wobbles and pounding drums. 

Staples of the drum & bass scene Pola and Bryson delve deeply into Bop x Subwave’s lofi-meets-electronica inspired anthem ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’. On this rendition, the duo continue to demonstrate their multifaceted production styles through crisp percussion and gorgeous atmospherics.

Winslow - Everything & More (feat. Pete Simpson) (Askel & Elere Remix)

Veteran mic-controller Richard Twaites, better known as his force-wielding alter ego Visionobi, has been hard at work in the studio for the last 12 months crafting his debut album. He follows up his March single ‘Paradise’, featuring GLXY & Riya, with ‘Wayside’ - a bouncy, bubbling single written with Metalheadz alumni Mikal. This second single represents the darker side of what you can expect from his upcoming freshman record, which is sure to see many a dancefloor gyrate with approval this Summer.

The track starts with foreboding, droning strings and Visionobi’s hypnotic, chant-like lyrics bubbling atop a slick groove. The devil is in the simplicity with this one, with effective processing across the vocals, drums & bassline and an overall gritty yet measured distortion tying everything together. Commanding vocals gel atop a screwface-inducing stepper of a beat from Mikal which will likely leave you considering a botox appointment.

ℹ️ | Bay 6 Recordings present the fourth edition of their compilation series Back to Bay 6, Vol.4. Much like the  previous records, the label aims to introduce fresh talent alongside their existent roster. Artists such as  Artsea, Beeson, Natus, and vocalist Aleya Mae contribute tracks alongside long-standing Bay 6 artists like  Colossus and Fearbace, as well as recent signees Option and AUDBL. The result is a rich take on drum &  bass, where artists are given the freedom to build upon the foundations of the genre.

Artsea's 'Summer's End' opens the record. Serenity is the atmosphere here, as the track leads with a gentle  piano riff. Modulated pads and driving percussion play out in the background, recalling the rise and fall of  waves crashing against the rocks. 

Colossus and Aleya Mae contribute 'Flight Patterns'. Technical drum programming, spherical synth  patterns and deep bass lines create a stirring base from which Aleya Mae delivers a soaring vocal full of extended harmonies. Texturally, the track is detailed, a dense combination of sounds designed to evoke  the deepest feelings. 

Elsewhere, AUDBL's 'Night’s Embrace' features undulating motifs and finely layered melody work lower in  the mix; Beeson's 'Cindy Stop It' is a minimal symphony defined by a gripping intro, and 'Find My Way' sees  Fearbace and Natus deliver a poignant take on drum & bass. 

Option's 'Prying Eyes' closes out the record. Perhaps the most club-ready track on the compilation, it's skittering drums take hold on the brain like a liquid symbiote, while nimble melodies and cavernous bass add the decoration.
