PHD had a cache of wicked tunes (some still sadly unreleased) that never quite had the same exposure as the rest of the GLR camp but stood tall in their own right. Some exceptional music makers feature on this mix as well as appearing across the Ascendant Grooves release catalogue. One of those mixes that has never dated and still gets regularly aired. KLYNCH - Rupture @The Volks, Brighton 15th March 2025

As usual, Sunday night came and I didn't really have that spark of inspiration on what to play... So, I went quids in with a loose idea that I have had for a while, of paying homage to Jay D'Cruze with a little impromptu Serato mini-mix. Back in the early 1990s, Jay lived in Welling, Kent, which is a town adjacent to where I grew up in Bexleyheath. Our paths crossed a few times through the local record shop, Vinyl Conflict, and I visited him in his studio once with my mate Paul T.

Jay created a lot of great music under his own name and was also part of Boogie Times Tribe alongside Dan Donnelly, who produced the legendary track "Dark Stranger" (which I didn't get round to including in the mix!). Fast forward some 25+ years, and I ran into Jay again at my pal Paul's night in Peckham Audio. Special shout to B.Heath legend Ben Rigby for getting Jay out that night. We hung out, smashed a lot of rum, shared some laughs, and I grilled him a bit about music and raving. He’s a genuinely nice guy and is very modest about his impact on the scene. Hats off to you mate :)
