Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "Multi-Love"

This unique band (pronounced: oh-wee-nee si-go-mah) is made up of 3 Londoners: 
brothers Louis and Jesse Hackett, and their school friend Tom Skinner and 2 gentleman from Kenya, Joseph Nyamungu and Charles Owoko, both masters of traditional Luo instruments, the Nyatiti and the Nyidoungue Drums respectively. 

The 28th of August will bring the release of their 3rd album ’Nyanza’, for which the group were invited to the Nyanza Province of Western Kenya, the Birthplace of Luo music, and homeland of Joseph and Charles, to record and craft the record closely with the roots of Owiny. 

The creative process of the Owiny Sigoma Band in the past has been crucially intwined by localities, memories and stories, as well as an element of spontaneity from their jam sessions. ‘I Made You / You Made Me’ sung by Jesse is a track inspired by the birth of his daughter. Stirred by hearing “purely happy” African popular music on the radio and taking early morning walks with gospel emanating from the churches Jesse challenged himself to write a joyous pop song.  This track beautifully reflects the ambience and energy of the environments in which it was made, and as well as Owiny Sigoma Band’s raw and organic collaborative process.

The white light glinted electric through the sky so black. The shift in the skies would cause the turn of the tide back home on planet earth, the ground would rumble with a great roar. The moon theme echoed across the galaxy and the waves of sound melted down upon those below, they looked up to the heavens above and saw the white golden ball flash once, then vanish into dark.
Here is the latest release from the DEEWEE camp, the label being run by the infamous Soulwax duo. This release comes from Bolis Pupul who offers an enchanting piece of music on 'Moon Theme'.

Last spotted on Eskimo back in the distant days of 2019, London based duo Horixon return with The Beekeeper, a collaboration with Belgian singer and one half of Hydrogen Sea, Birsen. An understated leftfield pop gem, The Beekeeper's skeletal, dub inflected, rhythms, melancholic piano melody and subtly tropical percussion provide the perfect, balmy, backing for Birsen's gentle, lilting vocals. The perfect soundtrack to lying in a hammock and watching the world around you drift by. 

Providing a counterpoint to the more organic, and warm, sounding original Norwegian duo Atella's remix keeps The Beekeeper's slow tempo and dub vibe but brings both their banks of synthesisers and a Nordic touch to the party. Whilst the original whispered of a still, warm summer's day the track's glacial tempo is now matched by icey cool synth arpeggios that glisten and sparkle like frost catching the morning light, whilst Birsen's voice takes on an even more fragile and beautiful timbre.

Mia Prce got her first keyboard when she was five years old. A rarity in the UE catalogue, and like labelmate Cassis Cornuta, Prce is a trained musician. But do read on!
Hideaway consists of seven stunning instrumentals that blend and gently warp Miaux’s formative influences: Mike Oldfield, Roxy Music, Krautrock and German electronic music, Vangelis and Badalamenti.
Despite being happier than you and I and her own earlier records, Prce’s daughter asked for “this sad music“ to be turned off when they were listening to the finished master for the first time."

Laguna - Hideaway LP, Ultra Eczema

Strata is the first track from the second STUFF. album, titled 'old dreams new planets'. It features the quintet at their finest. Hybrid drums and nervous synths fighting over who can claim the deep basses. It makes you doubt whether you're at a rave or at a fusion jazz concert in some late 80's basement. The song really opens up just before halfway, when everything blends together and takes an unexpected melodic turn. The music seems to want to leave the uncanny valley of half-human sounds, but the trip continues in a strange but fascinating concrete jungle. It never lets you get rid of the sense that it could all come to a grinding halt with every heartbeat. It's a song that wears off your repeat button, but you wont mind a bit. 'old dreams new planets' will be released on Sdban Ultra Records on the 28th of April, but you can already preorder it here: https://NEWS.lnk.to/ODNP
