Lightnin' Hopkins - In The Evening - Rock Me Mama Blues

The theme is the brutal carnage of war in the moonlight. A once mighty Japanese Castle is in ruins. This is one of my many sound experiments. I played this on an acoustic guitar, but made it symphonic in the post-edit.  I love the amorphous quality. I love that it has a unique personality all its own.

Here's the backing track sans voice played on my Godin A12 12-string Guitar.

From Wikipedia: "You've Got a Friend" was written by Carole King during the January 1971 recording sessions for her own album Tapestry, and James Taylor's album Mud Slide Slim.Taylor's version was released as a single, and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The James Taylor version also spent one week at the top of the Easy Listening charts.

My dog was put to death on May 6, 2010. I was there to witness the whole thing. I dedicate this song to the memory of my favorite Man's Best Friend. Oscar, I'll always love you.

John Fahey - Some Summer Day

I listened to Link Wray's version and mine has a more distorted guitar voicing.

From wikipedia: "The stalking, menacing sound of "Rumble" (and its title) led to a ban on several radio stations, a rare feat for a song with no lyrics, on the grounds that it glorified juvenile delinquency. Nevertheless it became a huge hit, not only in the United States, but also Great Britain, where it has been cited as an influence on The Kinks, The Who, and Jimmy Page 
among others.

Link Wray - Rumble (from Pulp Fiction)

Another experiment into surf music. This song was originally made popular by the Lively Ones in the Sixties and experienced a revival in the movie "Pulp Fiction". I left out the saxophones and the drums, so you are just hearing the interplay between guitar and bass.

The Lively Ones - Surf Rider (from Pulp Fiction)

This is one of my first recordings from long ago. What makes it unique is that the blues are being played on a 12-string. The inspiration, of course, is Lightnin Hopkins. At the time I recorded this song, I never heard any of his works, so this is more of an interpretation of some TABs that I discovered. My goal here is to portray a live setting at a blues club. Just put in the background noises and the mood will be set. In fact, slugged down a few.
