General Ludd is Rich McMaster from New Jersey and Tom Marshallsay from Canterbury. The guys met at the Glasgow Art School, where Rich studied environmental art and Tom studied fine art. Their first collaborations were interactive sound installations, but that quickly gave way to all night music making sessions, some of which resulted in this fine twelve-inch. Both tracks have already become staples at Mister Saturday Night parties. Eamon tends to play the heady, "Brothers and Sisters," and Justin tends to play the absolutely crushing, "Woo Ha," but we're sure you'll like them both.

Fletcher Eleckson, Francis Ximenez and Liam Benzvi met at the University of Minnesota and soon made their mark on the local music scene as @StrangeNames. On graduating they relocated to Brooklyn, re-recorded their Use Your Time Wisely EP (which is great advice by the way) and started to show New Yorkers the joys of sexy bass and harmonies. Grateful for something to get last month’s brilliant Ricochet out of our heads, we’re pleased to present the premiere of I Can’t Control Myself; a summer track guaranteed to make you move. We are very pleased to announce the fourth Optimo Disco Plate. What was only really ever meant to be an imprint for a one-off release appears to have developed into a fully fledged label in its own right. Sex Judas delivers the latest Disco Plate and while i attempt to work out how to pronounce the title of the A1 track on this EP, I'll let him tell you a little about himself and this release which comes complete with an outrageous 12" x 12" insert - 

Sex Judas feat. Ricky started up a few years ago to channel an anonymous Norwegian producer’s love for comics, political satire, music history, eroticism and above all electronic music. Imagine Damon Albarn’s “Goriliaz” project on acid or the musical versions of The Fabulous Furry Freakbrothers on, well whatever they are on. Portrayed as a classic twosome, infant terrible Sex Judas and his trusted sidekick Ricky come across as some kind of musical nomads with a hippy take on life.
 
Musically it’s all over the place, but the essence of jamming and the love for African American music shines thru. Inspiration is taken from German psychedelic rock, deep southern disco, rhythm and blues, classic house and techno, also taking a key from the avant-garde.

12" comes with a special 12" x 12" printed insert and will be released on Optimo Music as a three track 12 on June 1st 2015. Distribution by Kompakt.

It’s Toby Tobias time folks! Ahead of his brilliant LP which will be dropping here on DOG in September we give you a little reminder of why he’s one of the heroes of the underground UK house scene. Toby has been honing his skills as a producer, DJ, promoter and all round nice guy for years now and we’re very happy to be offering up fresh new club business from the man himself in the form of The Rising EP. Never one to go for the obvious, he always puts his neck on the line and pushes his productions in an interesting and often unexpected direction, making full use of his fully analogue studio to get those ‘happy accidents’ into his tracks which gives him the edge over so many others on the scene today.
Even with a straight up club banger like The Rising, Toby makes sure things stay edgy, raw and just a little bit mental. At the end of the day this is a Chi-town influenced filter disco banger but with fresh spin that’ll make sure it creates the perfect vibe when you drop it in the clubs.
Taking things in a deeper direction we have Jitterbug on the remix, keeping the pace and drive but dipping the original in a vat of thick, syrupy treacle which gives us an altogether more heady, spaced out vibe for those moments when only the trippiest shit will suffice.
Flip over for Toby’s own dub version of The Rising which strips it all back and warps it out for a loopey, Soundstream influenced take on the original. Full of attitude but keeping the bags of fun times feel with more punch than Frank Bruno (in his heyday!)

Toby Tobias - All Rising [Delusions Of Grandeur] (96Kbps)

In early 2015, Italian electronic producer Fabrizio Mammarella aka Telespazio released an excellent debut full length on Hell Yeah, and now the label offers up four tracks from it remixed by modern greats Kito Jempere, Wolf Muller, Harvey Sutherland and Tempelhof.

In original form the album was a truly unique and idiosyncratic journey into a freaky sound world. Now it has new moods and groves layer into it and becomes just as exciting a proposition as a result.

Up first, Russian Kito Jempere, who has previously released on labels like Freerange, serves up a mid tempo, cosmic work out of ‘Glide Shot’ with smeared synths and loosely jumbled percussion. It’s a perfect early evening track before notoriously weird and eccentric producer jan Schulte aka Wolf Muller, who has released great disco oddities on Themes For Great Cities, then goes slow with his take on ‘Barrier’. Slowly percolating percussion, whistling synths, sci-fi melodies and more all make this a proper freaky curveball.

Echovolt man and melodic deep house craftsmen Harvey Sutherland then layers up globular arps with skyward pads and thin, sheet metal hits to craft something that is propulsive yet beautiful. It’s a patient, spacious remix full of summer soul that really makes you feel good.

Lastly, Tempelhof, who have themselves released excellent ambient works on this label before now, turn ‘Nuvolari’ into a a blissful bit of cosmic and atmospheric chug disco. It will have your head reeling back and your eyes scanning the night sky at the same time as making you dance, and closes out another fantastic package from Hell Yeah.

Thunder Tillman is a cosmic vagabond who travels through space and time accompanied by his personal shaman. Together, as if having fallen to Earth, their mission is to recreate the music of their estranged home, reuniting with their brothers and sisters through an exquisite form of storytelling. While Western music may have degenerated over the past 65 years, troopers such as Thunder Tillman continue to drill down toward an elusive core, searching for something holy while never bastardizing their art with insincere advents of technology or convenience—as is apparent throughout their immaculate analogue production on this ESP Institute debut, Jaguar Mirror. Comparisons to genres like Krautrock are predictable, however we feel these four songs are so heavily narrative and wildly visceral that attempting to categorize the music would be a disservice to your imagination. We implore you to lay back in a nice stereo environment and absorb the purity of Thunder Tillman’s endeavor—appreciate their command of melody, composition, spectrum, magic… and try to recall the last time you chanced upon something truly different.
