St. Petersburg resident Kito Jempere is back on Dirt Crew with his first full release after his debut album on “Fata Morgana” and a great EP on “Freerange” last year. Following his great contribution to our “Deep Love” series we now welcome him with these two unique tracks. Ranging from House to Disco and Jazz influences, Kito found his very own style and switches easily between them. Up tempo and energetic tracks with great melodies, driving bass lines and clever sample use.

To complete this fine package we asked one of our all time fave producers and almost neighbour of Kito, Roberto Rodriguez from Helsinki, He turned “Do You Know Me” into a deep and bass heavy beast, much more stripped than the original tune he managed to make a true dance floor Gem of a remix. The second Man on remix duty is our Boy Nachtbraker from Amsterdam, also a Dirt Crew fave and meanwhile a household name for great melodic house jams. He added a brilliant bass line and cut the original “A Thousand Times” up to turn it in a true Nachtbraker tune.

A very cosmopolitan affair this is and musically one great record we are very proud of to release!

@justsayfouk might have been curating Outplay since 2013, but their ‘Butterfunk EP’ is in fact the duo’s first proper EP on their own imprint. It’s not that they’ve been resting on their laurels: they’ve dripfed a handful of EPs on the likes of Heist and House of Disco over the past few years, and released solo efforts on Kolour Ltd and Razor ’n Tape that stormed the charts. It’s been fascinating to see the Dutch pair slowly break the mould, moving from heavy sampling in favour to an emphasis on original instrumentation and production.

The Butterfunk EP is a fine showcase of their prowess in the studio, loaded to the hilt with contemporary dancefloor funk. Things kick off with the rolling drums, off-beat percussion and seriously infectious Hammond lines of Organ Freeman. Title track Butterfunk is aimed squarely at the hips with its smooth keys and perfectly placed vocal, while some acid lines give the track a little edge. 

Flip over for the bumping ‘Wong Way’, a chunky workout with a rubber bassline. The finale of the EP is ‘Winter’, a fantastic slice of 80’s inspired downtempo mushroom jazz.

Another fantastic EP on Enormous Deep from swiss based NORA EN PURE who returns to her home base and delivers 3 stunning indie dance tracks. 
We're opening up the EP with the title track COME WITH ME. A classy and touching piano chord construction builds the basic, slowly filtering up and down during the whole arrangement. Some jazzy vocal phrases and adlibs support the melodic parts. 
LONELINESS takes the more classic indie dance direction, heading on to lift off with a hammering 80s beat pattern, sweeping atmospheres, deep house synth stabs and a funky bass line underneath. This hazy, light dappled nu disco track will become, for sure, a secret night weapon in any whether indie dance but also deep house DJ sets.
The last slot on the EP is home to the track called NORMA JEAN. A buttery blend of percussion, Melody and warm chords, creating a relaxed mood to swing your hips. The track extends just close the 6 minute mark, giving you time to get into the mood and lose yourself on the dancefloor, just exactly as you should.

Having previously unearthed and showcased plenty of new school talent like Chamboche, Bonar Bradbury and A/Jus/Ted, Under The Shade turn to two hot house properties in the form of Ben Pearce and Real Connoisseur for their next release – a split EP of one original and one remix from each artist.
You probably already know the name Ben Pearce from ‘What I Might Do’, his oddly anthemic deep-house debut that dominated club floors across the world in 2012. Here he is in similar form with ‘Just Enough’ – a dark and studiously moody house cut that brews and stews for the duration with almost hymnal pads, smooth and buried deep kick drums and just the slightest traces of classicism in the repeated male vocal
clip. Light-fingered drum fills and carefully, scale riding melodies add depth and space and this one is likely to be as big as his debut.
Remixing the track is Real Connoisseur, a 20 year old from Oxford with releases on labels like Purp & Soul already under his belt. His version stands more upright with sharp and slinky percussion bringing a deep garage vibe the track. What will most standout for clubbers, though, is the mangled and spangled bassline that ripples through the track come the mid point Floor slaying stuff for sure.
And so to his original track, ‘Nobody’s Fool’, it’s an elastic and bombastic deep house cum bass music hybrid with precise bass notes patting out the rhythm and kinetic drum hits churning in its midst. A euphoric, hands in the air vocal sample bursts through a various points as the bassline bobbles along below and the production is both rich and warm, infused with a neon glow and crafted for maximum damage, you suspect.
Pearce returns the remix favour and tweaks it into a more peak time, punchy house jam with well placed vocal snippets accentuating the kick of the drums. It’s easy to see why Pearce won so many fans early on, and this EP suggests Real Connoisseur isn’t far behind him.
