For the fourth Outplay vinyl release we welcome Laurence Guy to the family and have Brame & Hamo on remix duties. It’s paired with two originals by Outplay's own Junktion and Daniël Leseman.
Laurence delivers a wonderful synth driven opener with “Strings Attached”. While Junktion brings his familiar grooves with the jazzy “Breakfast at Midnight”, Brame & Hamo flip it into a dubby stomper to heat up the floors. Daniël Leseman gets to round up the EP with his warm and melodic “On My Mind”.

After a brief wait between releases, UK-based deep house label @secret-reels is back with a new record. The imprint bears a sound that is often both bittersweet and pensive -- a shout to the aesthetic of the now defunct Purple Velvet -- and has a serious nose, err, ear for talent. Bordeaux producer Leon Revol (@leonidmusique) is at the helm for SR007, after showing promise with releases on the likes of Pressed for Time and Monologues. It's a five track EP (four originals and a remix) - aptly named Astral Plane - that delves into flavors of the cosmic variety.

The A1 slot is occupied by "Far With A Van", which our friends at Sleazy Beats gave us a peek into a short time ago. It's an airy and smooth jam, layered with synths, perfectly tuned drums and smart samples. The title track, "Astral Plane" accompanies it on the art-side, in all its dusty, spacey glory.

On the flip comes our premiere - Bolting Bits favorite Admin's remix of "Far With A Van". The Bristolian beatsmith managed to find the sample used in the original mix (or something in the exact same key and vein), flipping it into a warm, organic version. Thick and crackly drums hold up the track as melancholy strums and angelic horns adorn the arrangement above a bouncing bassline. Ultimately, the track builds to a nicely executed climax; all samples smartly cued and positioned.  It's a deft re-imagination of the perfectly delicious original take, and repurposes the cut for more sombre, late hours play.

Rounding out the B are "St. James" and "Outside", two heady synth-led deep house groovers that nicely continue the vibe of the effort. Followers of Secret Reels and their polished deep house sound will not be disappointed by this 12" in the slightest. Moreover, young Leon has displayed some serious skill here and will surely be a name to watch in the near future.

We present you the third release in our very successful collaboration series with “Roar Groove” and “The Revenge”. Straight after his new brilliant album “When the Thrill Comes” that was release in May this year Graeme Clark is back on Dirt Crew with four new gems.

The opening, funky and twisting, “Times Get Tough” is a deep rolling down tempo Disco/ House stomper that builds into this ecstatic groove we got to love so much from his previous outings. Pure good times and hands in the air action promised on this one! “Subconcious” is that darker and meaner side of House track with a slammin’ Chicago beat he delivers this old school jackin’ feel. Big bass lines and soulful vocal samples tied together by “on the fly” drum patterns.

The B-side of this new EP opens with an hypnotic jam that builds and builds till those sweet synths start soaring in. All carried by this ultra phat bass line, we can only imagine how this one will sound on a massive sound system! “Searchlight” is def a highlight of this release. Can we go even deeper and darker? oh yes! With “Come Down” we get a proper come down to close this EP. Deep sub basses with floating tops and again that classic Jack House beat.

Certainly a late night track made for those sweaty and long dj sets.
Summer is here and “The Revenge” has the perfect soundtrack for hot and steamy nights, inside or on the open field!
