This Spring, we had our inaugural New Palm campout in the high desert of Johnson Valley for two days and two nights of seasoned raging. After several years of delays, it was quite the feeling to have this come to fruition.

 We revisit our seasonal mix series with an approximation of a set from that weekend by New Palm regular Kevin Lipman, aka @under_current, who closed out our first night. Sure-footed, stoic, and moody, Kevin brought out the desert bleak with patient selections and sprinklings of his original work.
 
The campout was a veritable group effort, so thanks to everyone who came and did it right, and as always, big thanks to core enablers Carter & Leah for the brains and sound, Robbie & Mark for the muscles, Saba for the hot car, John for the tasteful shade, Michael, Tim & Sabrina for the libations, Alka, Josiah, Cha Cha (+ others) for the sustenance, and Phil for the wonderful eye.

Undercurrent is the alias of LA based producer Kevin Lipman who released a recent minimal breaks EP, on vinyl via New Palm records, that has been making waves on dance floors around the world. He has also previously released work on Body Tools first Compilation entitled Worldwide Dance: Vol 1. For his set at FLOW:002 he dished out a full hour of all original and unreleased material featuring his signature blend of minimal breaks, dub techno, and post dubstep flavors.

FLOW is a curated monthly event that seeks to promote the cutting edge of LA’s thriving underground music community, hosted in the friendly and intimate environment of The Love Song Bar in DTLA. Each event is centered around a special guest, with Body Tools International residents acting as direct support to the headliner.

Acid Camp is excited to announce a new compilation album. The album celebrates the label’s 10 year anniversary with 35 artists—of which 25 are releasing with the label for the very first time.

As the largest release in the record label’s history, Acid Camp: 10 Year Anniversary Compilation dramatically expands upon Acid Camp All Stars Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 (both 2018) with more than triple the number of featured artists. Ten return to the label, including Eric Cloutier and Jeremiah Chiu, while Abby Echiverri, Bézier, Force Placement, and 32 more celebrate their first track with Acid Camp.

From Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Berlin to Tokyo, the artists represent the breadth of the underground and independent music scenes of the 2020s and underscore the collective strength of Acid Camp’s community since 2013. The release spans dancefloor-forward acid house and techno to ambient, downtempo, and funk selections. Lyrics are cut and collaged; synths are squelched; grooves are grooved.

100% of the album's profits will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), founded over 30 years ago in 1991. PCRF is the leading nonprofit organization providing medical care and diverse humanitarian assistance to countless children in the Middle East.

"With a nod to the past and an eye on the future, this mix was organized to showcase some of my most cherished musical influences from over the years while also showing where the future might take me. Interspersed with some of my favorite tracks by producers such as Peverelist and Christopher Ledger are a selection of recent, unreleased works of mine that hint at where I might be headed musically. About our Guest:
Kevin Lipman aka undercurrent is an L.A.-based producer focused on exploring all manner of broken-beat, from mid 90s UKG and jungle to modern minimal and techno sounds. With a penchant for hazy, minimal aesthetics, undercurrent is gearing up to release a collection of original works that span a wide variety of influences.

About the Show:
Body Tools Sessions is a live audio video broadcast that happens on the First Saturday of every month from 1pm to 4pm PST on the VPN network. Each episode features a mix by a Body Tools resident on the first hour and a half, and then a special guest mix is featured on the second hour and a half. Once the stream is finished we always post the videos and audio the following week to our archive on SoundCloud, YouTube, & Vimeo.
