She defines herself as a Dj to be bluntly uncomplex and straightforward. The simplicity is reflected in the way that she approaches DJing - playing music that she loves, ignoring shamelessly all genre boundaries and focusing more on making each set her own artistic statement.

Iona, une jeune DJ parisienne de 25 ans au pedigree intéressant. Ses parents comptent en effet parmi les fondateurs du Psychiatrik Soundsystem, un des premiers soundsystems français. Iona a donc été bercée aux sons de la free party et de la rave et c’est dans ce milieu favorable qu’elle a développé sa passion pour la musique. Depuis 6 ans elle mixe sur vinyle et en numérique, ça lui a pris du temps pour s’y mettre mais avant ça elle s’est construit de solides fondations musicales avec une petite vingtaine d’années de piano au conservatoire.

Cette culture imprègne sa vie bien au-delà des loisirs et de la fête, Iona a consacré une partie de ses études à l'analyse de la représentation de la musique techno dans la presse depuis les années 90, vaste sujet pour ne pas dire vaste problème, et elle travaille actuellement pour le média Electro News que vous connaissez sûrement, aux côtés d’une certaine Tata Monique.

Côté mix, comme beaucoup de femmes de sa génération Iona patate fort, entre indus, acid et sonorités old school. Les DJ c’est comme les poulets, c’est meilleur élevés en liberté, en voici la démonstration.

Nyx Letah (Paris, France) is pronounced as “fuck the state” in French.
Her music is a lot about hovering melodies and acid sounds, strongly introspective. Still with fast energetic rhythms and hard kicks to make it easy to dance to, imposing synths are what feel most accessible to connect with others and sharing these moments of pure passion while believing in beauty and unconditional love despite the ugliness of the world.
