Takakuwa Rankō was a haijin from Kanazawa and a student of Wada Kiin. Born into a wealthy merchant family, he travelled all over Japan and finally settled in Kyoto, practising as a doctor. A great admirer of Bashō, he erected a small shrine (the Bashō-dō 芭蕉堂) in his honour in 1783. Among his main pupils was the poet Sakurai Baishitsu.

Körkarlen (excerpts)

based around a synth pad from the PS1 game "fluid". i added some lightly hand-edited dub drum loops, and later programmed a second kit to play call and response with the dub drums. a bass pulse was added to keep things moving. the "2001 space" patch from newfangled audio's generate synth was layered in, as was an improvised lead piano line. textural samples from mode audio and another PS1 game, "silent hill", help thicken the atmosphere. some quiet volume-faded guitar emerges before the closing vinyl slowdown effect (unfiltered audio's needlepoint vst).

Naviar Broadcast #350 - Washing up the mountain – Wednesday 18th December 2024

This melancholic synthpop ballad reflects on solitude, time, and the uncertainty of tomorrow. Set during a sunset at the beach, the narrator stands motionless beneath a beach umbrella, casting a long shadow on the sand. As the light fades, they watch hermit crabs slowly make their way toward the glowing water, symbolizing movement, instinct, and trust in the natural cycle. Meanwhile, the narrator remains still, lost in thought and doubt, questioning what the next day might bring and whether they too will find direction. The song explores the tension between inner hesitation and the world’s continuous motion, carried by atmospheric 80s-inspired analog textures and haunting melodies.
