Summer Song

Landed in Helsinki International Airport today,  
About half past noon and they lost my luggage on the way.  
Now I’ve got five hours until my next flight, 
And a bar’s the only thing that I see in sight, 
So I guess I’ll drink ‘cause there’s nothing else to do.

A few drinks later I decided I should take a nap,
 In a vacant gate, on some chairs, but my feet and neck felt cramped.
 And when I woke up there wasn’t much to do, 
So I went back and had another drink or two. 
Don’t look at me like that, ‘cause you know you’d do the same thing too.

Flying out of Oslo I had to land again,
 And spend two whole nights before getting on a plane again. 
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been naughty or nice,
 ‘cause there’s no flights leaving here tonight, 
So it’s back to the bar until it’s time to go to my hotel.

Woke up this morning and I got myself a beer,
 ‘cause I’m still in Helsinki after spending a whole night here. 
Since today is Monday, the museum’s closed, 
And by noon my room’s dishonor bar was also closed,  
So I guess I’ll take a ride on the swing on the Rock Church dome.

Got to the airport early on my way to St. Petersburg,  
So I could have some liquid courage to get the nerve to get up in the air.
 I’m heading back to the only bar in sight,  
And I hope while I’m drinking I don’t miss my flight.  
Don’t laugh ‘cause you know it wouldn’t be so funny if it happened to you.

Landed one last time outta Moscow via Petersburg.  
By now the guy working in the bar must think that I live here.  
And it’s not quite as glamorous as the photos seem,  
But as long as there’s drinks, well it’s okay with me. 
 I’ll get out of this airport if it’s the last thing I ever do.
