About the DJ: I’m originally from Montreal, moved to Halifax about a decade ago. I got hooked on house after starting to frequent and work in the queer clubs through my university years. Started mixing with friends at the after parties and then started to play out. For this mix, I really wanted to intertwine some old with the new and keep the energy high (with a few breathers) and really thought that an absolutely necessary part of the mix was the Celeda Underground vocal given it was at the ULA event. 

About the mix: I was definitely heavily influenced in my track choices given that I had just come back from a Defected festival, but also wanted to make sure there were good rhythm and tempo changes along the way to keep it spicy. 
The exchange of energy that happens between a crowd and the DJ is just a drug all of its own and the high is that much better when the crowd “gets you” which is why playing a queer event like ULA was so amazing.

About the DJ: sister rickii is an east coast dubstep familiar that has recently found a secondary home in the energetic groove of dark and spacious techno. With her finger on the pulse of murky, low end sounds, sister rickii aims to curate sets that deny convention and embrace the unconventional - allowing the dance to resonate with low end frequencies and unfiltered energy.

About the Mix: This mix is an exploration of minimal percussive techno that focuses mainly on hypnotic atonal rhythms and chunky kicks. It’s a fast and raw take on dark & moody underground sounds that are familiar to my project. &&& you already know it’s 140.

@techniquenado is a Montreal based sound artist.

Roaming in the 514 for over a decade, the city’s early bass scene was
their introduction to raves and djing (shout out to ESL CREW).
Rooted in low-frequency and grooves, their sonic psyche explores
the bridges between drippy techno, eccentric bass and lush house.
Conjuring movement-informed selections to a dazzling thirst for
psychedelic textures, they approach the dancefloor as a tool for collective and personal transformation.
