A radio adaptation of a medieval travelogue written by a Franciscan friar, Simon Semeonis, which describes his journey with fellow friar Hugo Illuminator from Clonmel to Jerusalem, a journey they began in 1323. They entered a world of Gothic cathedrals, pearl-studded shrines, mosaics and frescoes, sun-scorched deserts and lush river plains along the Nile. Every step took them further away from the familiarity of home, encountering other peoples, languages, religions and customs, and eventually the Jerusalem of their dreams.

The part of Simon is played by Mark D’Aughton with historical background contributed by Dr Małgorzata Krasnodębska-D’Aughton of UCC School of History. Original music is composed and performed by Mark Wilkins. 

The radio programme takes its cue from the Intersections production at Cork Midsummer Festival 2015, an immersive performance set within the hidden sanctuary of Ennismore Meditation Centre which was funded by CACSSS at UCC.
