Nikki Nair is fast becoming one of the most diverse and forward-thinking artists in electronic music, flying the flag for increasingly hybridized methods and doing it your own way. His sound is inimitable and cannot be defined; readily bottling a multitude of emotions in a relatively short space of time. 

Nikki’s meteoric rise has come in the form of eclectic releases like his ‘More is Different’ EP on Dirtybird to the downright filthy and party-starting ‘Trying To’ on Bristol’s Scuffed Recordings - Influenced by anything from Detroit techno, to lush ambient soundscapes and Florida breaks. The Knoxville born, Atlanta based producer continues his journey through shape shifting universes on his debut for Lobster Theremin, with five different but equally impressive tracks. 

‘Shufflin’ kick starts the EP in Nikki’s signature, unpredictable style; as squelchy bass-lines growl at heavily swung drums and low pitched vocal loops, before ‘WWC’ -  an off-kilter minimal stepper, walks the tight-rope between entropy and synchronized dance.

‘I Can’t Stop’ meanders from kinky bass & breaks, to deconstructed dubstep and trap; causing more facial expressions in six minutes than ever thought possible. Nair’s hybridized methods continue to shine through in ‘Yoland And His Tortoise’ - a trippy and colourful dream told through nuance in sound. The EP then closes off with the laid-back grooves of ‘Urquoise’ - a hypnotising ritual best practiced in nature.

Matching supple muscle with brainy brawn, fast-rising Edinburgh producer @lws_trax comes bowling onto the PM+ series with a pair of widescreen heaters. As is now well established and expected for Peder Mannerfelt’s quick-fire offshoot of club-ready cuts, these pieces are forged outside obvious genre categorization, where it’s easier to talk in terms of sound and energy than style.
 
‘Pendrum’ is a long and ranging track which revels in knotty rhythmic intricacy, driven by a drum palette which sounds like it was sourced from those odd things you find in miscellaneous kitchen drawers. The space-age pads take these items and fling them towards the horizon, and we’re dutifully dragged along for the ride. It’s a true journey piece – a saga for the club loaded with dramatic peaks and troughs.
 
‘Now That’s Focus!’ similarly looks beyond obvious drum machines for its percussive hits, but this time it’s purely about the beat. LWS proves himself to be devilishly effective at setting a scene with not much more than a biscuit tin and a dripping tap at his disposal, strapping the crinkling of a crisp packet to a rugged kick and slowly letting the gas escape from his bottle of sparkling when the track shifts into a higher gear.

Dawn Razor and Archetech, two friends and two-thirds of the once-active trio Sonnen Blumen Kerne, have collaborated to deliver an album of tracks previously released exclusively on vinyl through Dawn Razor’s NARA Records. When Lobster Theremin ceased operations, the stock of these releases was lost, leaving only brief preview snippets online.

Adam approached HOMAGE with the story and shared the tunes with us. Moved by the situation, we decided to release all of the tracks as a retrospective album. Thus, 'Half Life' was born—a collection of 10 tracks that blur the boundaries between slammin' electro, breakbeat, and mutated bass, all with a minimalist edge.

'Half Life' will be available to stream and download from May 17th, 2024.

Martin Kuška returns into the waters of melodic dreamy progressive and distinctive techno under the artist name Goodbye Mirage to release EP Thrills and Maybe Ecstasy. After experimenting with ambient and soundtrack soundscapes last year, he serves up a 5-track club EP in which, while ignoring many current trends, he explores how far we can push the intensity of our experiences and passions.

Czech producer, enthusiastic selector, freelance writer, lover of vintage synthesizers and various aspects of electronic music, he began his journey more than ten years ago on the local label Krmelec, later releasing a 12-inch record on Berlin based Massimiliano Pagliara's label Funnuvojere and a cassette albums on US Origin Peoples and Sacred Phrases. In recent years, Martin mainly released on the Lithuanian Electric Shapes, and last year's mini-LP full of oppressive ambient was released in Japan, on Umé Records, which is run by Canadian producer Precipitation, real name Zefan Sramek. Martin Kuška signed his latest production on the border of melancholic techno and progressive house to the established European techno label Diffuse Reality. The group of enthusiasts and promoters behind Diffuse Reality is constantly expanding, whether it is organizing international Theorema festivals or opening their own record store near the central Plaza España square in Barcelona.

"I prepared Thrills and Maybe Ecstasy with quite clear symbolism, but as time goes by, it has become a much broader collage of thoughts about our lives, how we deal with them, what we pay attention to, what makes sense, and maybe even how deeply we are here for each other. I want the songs to take you to the dance floor, but also force you to think. With all the rawness and subtlety at the same time. That's how I like it," says the producer, adding that the long-thought-out cover by Zuzana Průchová and the meanings of the track titles themselves should also contribute to enhancing the symbolism of the new release, giving ample room for reflection.

The EP Thrills and Maybe Ecstasy, featuring tracks like No Other Sentiment Can Match or Then The Sunset Was Surreal, was created mainly on the Nord Lead 3, Studio Electronics SE-3X, Korg MS2000 and Modal 001 synths in combination with the DAW Reason 10 and its many Rack Extensions. Releases March 3, 2025.

Samuel van Dijk releases his third album as VC-118A on Delsin Records.
