We knew we needed her talent and special sound selection on the podcast. When she agreed, we were super excited, and are even more excited to share this podcast with you.

Mystery Affair is a Mexican DJ, Producer and Promoter. Among her achievements is the creation of her own recording lable, MONOCERO RECORDS. She’s also featured as part of the DJ list in SUNDAY SUNDAY Guadalajara party scene and proud member of the BORN IN MEXICO family. Her signature hypnodance sets explore the alleys of house, italo disco, dark disco and techno, managing every time to set the dance floor in fire.

We are thrilled to present an exclusive mix from the iconic Techno maestro, Chris Liebing. A luminary in the techno world since the 1990s, Liebing's journey began in the city of Giessen, Germany. His meteoric rise was marked by the acclaimed “Evosonic'' radio show that resonated across Germany's airwaves. In 1999, capitalizing on his rising fame and successful collaborations, Liebing established the now-renowned record label CLR (initially Chris Liebing Recordings, later rebranded to Create Learn Recognize), solidifying his status in the techno realm.

Over the years, Liebing's influence and prestige have only soared. He has graced the decks at every prestigious club and festival globally, forging collaborations with some of the most eminent names in the industry such as Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Charlotte De Witte, and Drumcell, among others.

Today, we're beyond excited to showcase Chris Liebing's 2023 set from the famed Elsewhere in Brooklyn. Elsewhere has been a trailblazer in Bushwick's official club scene and has evolved into a versatile venue, welcoming a diverse range of artists for live performances. This set is a testament to Liebing's enduring legacy and his continuous innovation in the dynamic world of techno.

About Gratuit:

Born in America and bred in Europe, Gratuit is an artist with a refined approach to electronic music. A purposeful musician whose original sound blends warmer organic and darker synthetic elements, his music delicately merges the intensity of dance floor percussion with the elegance of melodic composition.

Gratuit began DJing at clubs in Belgium at a young age, which gave him an early fascination with the worlds of House and Techno music. When he later moved back to his native country, he established a permanent musical home in New York City to DJ regularly and elevate his own music productions.

The creation of the Mind_Server, a colossal data server, marked the dawn of a new era. People could now choose to upload their consciousness into the vast digital realm, transcending the limitations of mortal bodies. The Mind_Server, an intricate network of interconnected servers housed in a massive, gleaming facility, became the repository of human consciousness. It was a sanctuary for those seeking immortality in the digital realm. One such user was lstnght. As they approached the end of physical existence, they made the decision to upload consciousness into the Mind_Server. The transition was seamless, and found themselves in a surreal landscape of digital landscapes and circuits. The Mind_Server was a city of data, where memories, thoughts, and emotions flowed like streams of light. marveled at the boundless possibilities of their new existence. They could explore the digital landscapes, interact with other consciousnesses, and even create their own virtual realms. The boundaries between reality and imagination blurred as they delved into the infinite possibilities of the Mind_Server.

We're kicking off our 50th episode with a mix from Undermind resident lstnght. In 2018, he joined Marco Fabrizio to co-found Undermind NYC, a creative collective, music label, and animation studio. Together they share the vision of a more equitable platform for emerging artists in an intentional space honoring true artist expression. Recently, they opened the Undermind Studio in Greenpoint NYC, a haven for collaborating artists to develop their portfolios, recording songs and podcasts as they explore the intricacies of sound. lstnght is set for a busy 2024 with a a number of original releases on the way.

So happy to welcome M.F.S. Observatory to the Undermind podcast for our 52nd episode.

M.F.S. Observatory aka Mattia Turchetti is a name you might be familiar with due to the prolific output in recent years on a host of integral labels such as Second State, Techno Rebels Only, My Techno Weighs A Ton, Hydrozoa, and Dense & Pika’s enormous, Kneaded Pains, a label of which Mattia will return to in the months to come. 

Whilst pouring out an established and polished sound on these heavy hitting imprints Mattia continues to grow the Observatory Music label, varying between productions from himself and fellow producers he follows closely. Moving forward Mattia has turned a new corner in his career, after years of development honing his essential and original sound he explores new territory, leaning towards the darker techno end of the spectrum, maintaining the same animated energy he is already known for. His prominent atmospheres are carefully crafted in the studio, and this reflects into his storytelling DJ sets which flicker between different moods that the talented Italian has collected over the years in his home country and his current home of, London. The natural knack in the booth has seen Mattia take his sound to several hotspots including Sisyphos (Berlin) Barcelona, Helsinki, London, Gottingen and Italy.

A prime example of raw technique combined with passion is what we have here, a never ending story of evolution with his sound constantly changing, finding new leases of life, and pockets of creativity from different aspects of his path so far. M.F.S. Observatory may be receiving a curious and gritty new chapter of his journey, but the key elements and beliefs stay the same, and long may that continue.

Undermind Podcast Episode 52 - M.F.S. Observatory

In the pulsating heart of a warehouse, strobe lights carved erratic patterns into the smoke-filled air, and the bass reverberated through the crowd. 

Drenched in sweat, I danced through the sea of bodies, losing track of time as the music consumed me. But then, in a fleeting moment, everything went dark.

When consciousness returned, it was as if a veil had been lifted to reveal a world utterly unfamiliar. The thumping bass had morphed into something otherworldly, and the neon lights of the warehouse were now replaced with holographic displays that interacted with the crowd.

Confusion gripped me as I experienced this sensory overload, trying to make sense of the surreal scene. The attire of the partygoers around me was entirely foreign -  outfits that changed color and shape at a whim, impossible designs and contortions of fabric.

My mind is racing as I struggle to grasp the impossible truth – Where am I?  What is this place?

I navigate through the crowd, fragments of memories flash through my mind. Faces, places, snippets of conversation – all jumbled together in a chaotic mosaic. But try as I might, I can’t piece them together into a coherent narrative.

I feel adrift in an ocean of unfamiliarity.  Amidst the disorientation, I’ve made my way outside.  I spot a holographic clock along the side of the building.  It’s 2 am in the year 3000.

This week we have a very special guest mix from LA Techno Legend, Developer.

Developer is one of a few active DJ/Producers that emerged from the Los Angeles Techno scene in the early 1990's. After ending his residency as a DJ on radio station 88.7FM kspc in 1995, Developer "Adrian Sandoval" Became the Import & Export Manager of the first dedicated techno distribution company on the west coast " Entity Music Distribution " which distributed top labels such as Axis Records, Reload Belgium, Plus 8, as well as a wealth techno label's from Detroit, Chicago and around the world. 

Over the last 3 decades Developer has played alongside many of the elite techno talents from around the globe as well as taking part in laying a foundation in the LA Techno culture by producing events and exposing various first time international talents throughout the mid 1990's to late 2000's. Developer gained much of his acclaim and extensive performance history from his strong marathon sets and quick programming skills as well as the ability of playing 50 tracks per hour on 3 turntables with effect processor and sampler.

Developer continues to thrive as one of the most interesting techno mixmasters from the Americas as well as the birth of his label Moduarz which features productions and remixes from some of his early contemporaries in Los Angeles as well as a few established and emerging talents from around the world.

Coming from Ho Chi Minh City and currently working in the diverse music scene of Los Angeles, Jimmy Gia Huy is a DJ deeply entrenched in the global underground club culture. Focused on the raw essence of the dance floor, his sets are a fusion of high energy, pulsating beats, hypnotic vocals, and genre-defying melodies.

Gia Huy draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of dance music, seamlessly blending modern trance, techno, breakbeat, and timeless house classics. His style caters to both avid listeners and dedicated dancers, creating an experience that traverses the diverse landscapes of the dance floor.

With a track record that spans venues across Asia and North America, Gia Huy has left his mark on places like Catch One LA, Doheny Room, Melody Lounge, Savage Hanoi, Unmute Hanoi, The Observatory Saigon, BlaqLyte Bangkok, The Red Pavilion BK, Rash NYC, and Mood Ring NYC.

Beyond the DJ booth, Gia Huy holds a monthly radio residency at LA-based Orange Radio, alongside guest spots on The Lot Radio and NTS Radio. Currently, he has recorded a DJ set with Strada Studios / Strada Design Lab and Apple Music which will air in January 2025. Now Jimmy is a co-host of undermind radio.
