Keith Patrick started Under Moonlight as a way to escape the pressures of the real world and his own anxiety. It was his alternate reality — a world of infinite beauty, love, serenity. And very often, the escape helped. It brought joy to him and others, and reminded people of the beauty in this life. 

There was just one problem…the real world continued to collapse. 

Under Moonlight returns in 2022 with new single, Free (Of Your World). The uplifting pop anthem is Patrick’s response to the destruction and selfishness he sees all around, “Every day, our leaders make terrible choices that young people around the world are going to pay heavily for. This song is a rejection of those choices, and a call to build the communities we want.”

People respond to growing older in different ways. Some give up and conform to expectations, some get lost in the party, and others get paralyzed in self-doubt.

Keith Patrick decided to write an album to remind himself who he was. Everywhere he looked, the walls were closing in — the pressures of the corporate job, a break-up with his long-time girlfriend, the expectations of what a man in his late 20s should be doing with his life, the endless comparisons and self-doubt. All of this wrapped up in an America that seems hell bent on tearing itself apart. 

He needed to step away from it all and build the world he wanted to live in. One of beauty, magic, and serenity. Out of this desire came Under Moonlight. He locked himself in his Chicago apartment for a year — writing song after song until he found the feeling he was looking for most: joy. 
“As I dove into this record, I realized all I ever wanted to do with my life was create beautiful things that people could enjoy. Under Moonlight was the music I needed all along.”

Beautiful & Unafraid, the debut 6-track EP from Under Moonlight is both a title and an aspirational mantra. As Keith Patrick explores songs of adulthood and anxiety, he continues down a path to build a world on his terms.
